★ Featured Writers

Josh E describes himself as a ‘fiction writer, bookworm and Tolkein fanatic!’. In his story ‘Dear Mrs. Haywood’, he tracks a wife’s response to receiving a letter that she somehow postpones reading until she absolutely has to.

Our favourite quote from ‘Dear Mrs. Haywood…’

Written at the top in clear, fashionable cursive were the words Dear Mrs. Haywood. That was unusual, I thought to myself, because Hank started his letters with Dear My Beautiful Wife. Nevertheless, I ran inside and grabbed Charlie, my eight-year-old boy, and we made space by the front window for me to read it aloud to him

Zoe Carada is a writer who describes herself as a ‘lifelong learner, story-teller and stellar hiker!’ We hope for a story about those hiking boots soon!

In the meantime, ‘Frozen Words, Unspoken Hearts’ is a study of frustrations, misunderstandings, and the lack of communication in relationships.

Our favourite quote from ‘ Frozen Words, Unspoken Hearts …’

Sometimes there was an implicit complaint that she wouldn’t find anything to say, which made her start searching feverishly for some story to tell, but in vain. That is why such conversations usually left her with a somewhat bitter taste. They would look forward to these weekend dates, hoping that face-to-face they might be more natural and closer to each other than on the phone.

Erohtar Isnam is a poet with a specialist interest in horror and fantasy … with a sidebar in politics! In her free-form poem, ‘Women’, she explores women and aging.

Our favourite quote from ‘Women …’

She remember no more the girl that smiled for herself

cried for herself, she no longer recognize that pigtail

artistically woven with the colored bands or

the voice that once demanded for the crayons
