★ Featured Writers

Milana Marsenich is a Western author who writes about books, dogs, and good living.

‘September 1918 — The Wolf Dog’ is an extract from Milana’s novel, ‘Beautiful Ghost,’ illustrating how the influenza pandemic of 1918 weaved its way through Butte, Montana.

Our Favourite Quote from ‘September 1918 — The Wolf Dog’ …

Soot covers every surface of the depot, and, as the sky darkens, the wolf dog feels something coming. Something rising up out of the ground, on the wind, or perhaps in a blanket. Or maybe, a young woman carries it in her lap as the train roars across the country from the east to Montana. This tiny thing is barely a whisper. But it’s there, wanting to live and live strong. It floats among the people hugging and kissing in the depot’s large waiting room.

Sujit Chakraborty is a poet who also enjoys nature and photography. His poem, ‘You May Cry’, presents a harsh truth expressed with much sensitivity …

Our Favourite Quote from ‘You May Cry’ …

No harm in dreaming that scene you have dreamt in past. But never believe them to happen in real life.

Ralph Serpe is a writer, artist, and musician. ‘The Fisherman’ is an entertaining piece that takes us into the world of rival anglers and the quest to hook ‘Clementine’, the most prized fish of all!

Our Favourite Quote from ‘The Fisherman’ …

She is a legend, the biggest fish ever to grace this lake. Around here, catching Clementine was more than a sporting achievement; it was a badge of honor, a mark of respect.
