Medium Writers Wanted: Shameless Self Promotion Welcome!

Are you ready start getting more exposure for your new and existing stories?

I’ve always been a big fan of self-promotion, as evident by the above image, with me holding my proudest possessions.

I believe if you don’t get out and promote yourself, how can you expect anyone else to put in the effort? Self-promotion means being proactive.

Medium writers are constantly writing awesome stories that manage to fall through the cracks and never get read. This post is to welcome new and existing writers and allow them to shamelessly promote some of those stories, so Medium members have a chance to read them.

On the other hand, some writers may prefer to promote their most popular and highly viewed stories instead.

Let’s face it, even if your stories are doing okay so far, you can never have too much visibility and exposure, so feel free to promote those stories as well!

Here are a few examples:

Do Popular Stories Do Well?

What is the most popular story that you’ve written on the platform so far? That question might not be as simple to answer as you think. Your most “popular” story may not be the one that has earned you the most money.

One story might be popular and draw in more readers, but if the readers choose to leave the page before completing the story, your read time and earnings for that story will be low.

On the other hand, another story may not draw in as many readers (seeming less popular than the other), but the readers who visit the story actually stick around and read it entirely.

We writers go nuts, spending time trying to figure out the Medium algorithm, and anything else they can think of, that might make their stories more visible. This is no easy task, and some writers think it’s actually pointless.

I’ve come to have two different opinions on this. No, we don’t need to be wasting excessive time and energy, trying to understand what’s going on behind the scenes.

BUT, I do believe we need to spend some time, at least once a week, analyzing the progress of our stories, and determining what we’re doing wrong, versus what we’re doing right.

Whatever your thoughts are on this, the bottom line is, we’re all looking for ways to be more visible and help our stories be seen. Since that is our primary objective, I’m hoping this story will be successful, and effective in helping everyone who responds after reading it.

Help with Self Promotion

One thing I’ve noticed about Medium writers and readers is that they can be extremely supportive, but you have to be willing to put yourself out there and ask for help. There is no shame in doing self-promotion, especially when you can manage to get a little help.

In just a moment, I’ll tell you exactly what every member reading this information can do, today, to start building more followers and get more visibility for your stories.

Okay, let’s jump right on it!

Shameless Self-Promotion Time!

I want to help you shamelessly promote your stories through me.

As I mentioned in the opening, we have too many great stories that continue to get passed over, simply because we lack Followers, aka, the readers we need, who will see the stories when they’re fresh off the press.

ALL MEDIUM MEMBERS who would like some story visibility for one of their stories, can respond by providing the name of the story you want to promote. NO NEED to insert your profile name because it will display automatically when you leave a response.

EXAMPLE: 20 Unique Publications New Medium Writers Can Earn Money Writing For— Have you started following and requested to write for these publications yet?

Feel free to add the story’s subtitle, to help add a little context about what the story contains, but that’s optional. Since the whole point is to promote YOUR story.

While comments about our stories are usually encouraged, this time, I ask that you reserve the section EXCLUSIVELY for promoting your stories.

  • Promote whichever story you want to post, regardless of topic or category.
  • Post your most popular story, or the one you wished was the most popular.
  • Post the title that you’re proud of the most, or simply post your About Me Story, and let members get to know you. It’s all up to you.

That’s my plan to help shamelessly promote you and your story, but it will ONLY WORK IF YOU WORK IT!

NOTE: If you want, feel free to

Get an Added Bonus!

If you want the story you decide to promote to get an even added bonus, you can be sure to do the following:

Leave the story’s link INSTEAD of the title (along with the subtitle).

EXAMPLE: https://readmedium.com/20-unique-publications-new-medium-writers-can-earn-money-writing-for-a2ed93c0fbccHave you started following and requested to write for these publications yet?

Just leave ONE link so the page won’t become too spammy and start functioning wonky (we tend to get carried away with our links).

Not only will your story get exposure here, in the Comment section, but all the story links that I follow from here and read, I’ll also include in my weekly list of titles in the Daily Justiss publication feature: “What I Read this Week”.

Can you say: WIN WIN! 😄

What Story Title Will You Shamelessly Promote?

List your own story, then choose at least one of your fellow writers from the responses, and read the story they listed. SUPPORT your selection and FOLLOW the writer.

DEAR READER: The advice and opinions I share are based on things I’ve experienced -personally, OR my suggestions on a smart course of action.
