Summary

Xin Xin, a writer on Medium, unexpectedly became a top writer in the OnlyFans tag, highlighting the financial benefits and the influence of Medium's curation process on a writer's success.

Abstract

Xin Xin, a Medium writer, discovered their status as a top writer in the OnlyFans tag, ranking fifth among six writers. Despite limited personal experience with the subject matter, Xin's articles on OnlyFans, which focused on its social media and technology aspects rather than explicit content, garnered significant views and earnings. Xin's success demonstrates the potential for lucrative returns on Medium, with one article earning approximately $80.98 per hour of reading time. The discovery of top writer lists associated with specific tags on Medium, including 74 tags identified by J.J. Pryor, suggests a strategy for writers aiming to achieve top writer status and potentially receive Medium's Partner Program Bonus. Xin emphasizes the importance of Medium's curation process, particularly being "Chosen for Further Distribution," as a stepping stone to becoming a top writer. Despite not being a prominent Medium writer or having a viral story, Xin has twice received the Medium Partner Program Bonus, underscoring the platform's opportunities for writers without a massive following.

What, I Am a Top Writer in OnlyFans I Feel I’m the Bella Thorne of Medium?

And it pays a hell of a lot of money.

I tried to write sexy, and it has mixed results. First, I can’t share what I haven't experienced, and when it comes to sex, let’s just say I had minimal experience with the kind of stuff that Shannon Ashley shares with her readers.

To my surprise, when I searched “OnlyFans” in Medium as a “tag,” my name, Xin Xin, came out as one of #OnlyFans’s top writers, I am actually ranked 5th, and there are just six of us.

I’m in the company of How To Articles, Mysterious Witt, someone Russian, Starter, and Arousr.

This got me curious as to why this happened to me? I remember that I wrote three stories about OnlyFans, but mostly it wasn’t about sex. Instead, it was about social media and as a technology company. Yes, OnlyFans is a social media platform for adult content and one of the pioneers in the subscription economy.

  1. OnlyFans Hack Its Way to Being the Biggest Pimp of Sex Workers Which has 18 views, earned me $1.66 for a lifetime member reading time of 1 minute and 14 seconds. So it means for every hour of reading time. I get paid approx. — $80.98. Whoa! That’s a lot of money!
  2. How to Be Successful On OnlyFans Even If You’re Not Bella Thorne Which has 2.1K views, earned me $0.65 for a lifetime member reading time of 22 minutes and 14 seconds. So it means for every hour of reading time. So I get paid approx—$2.70.
  3. How This GILF Is Winning the Senior Porn Industry Which has 64 views, earned me $1.00 for a lifetime member reading time of 5 minutes and 6 seconds. It means for every hour of reading time. So I get paid approx—$7.65. Most of the views are from Google searches, which means I don’t get anything.

I continued my search, and it appears all “tags” now have a Top Writer List. I may have missed this before, but it is a discovery, and this information can help me see who the writers are using the same “tags” as I am.

So, Tim Denning watch out!: )

Top Writer Badge

While there is a top writer list on every “tag” on 74 “tags,” it will get you the Top Writer Badge you see on the writer’s profile. I have three current Top Writer Badges:

  1. Social Media — 37th /50
  2. Photography — 5th/36 means you can still make it to the list as there are 14 spots left in the top 50.
  3. This Happened To Me — 50th/50

If you want to know what are those 74 “tags” and why are they important if you want to get the Writing Bonus that Medium gave its top 2,000 writers in May 2021, you can read my story — Medium Partner Program Bonus and How to Get Picked on the Next Round

Recap

While we will never know how the Medium algorithm works and how it rewards writers with a “top writer status” on each “tag” or a Top Writer Badge that appears on the writer’s profile.

It goes to show the importance of getting Chosen for Further Distribution. While I can’t vouch for it, it makes sense that the first step in getting a “top writer status” on a “tag” is for your stories using that “tag” is Medium curated.

Furthermore, as shown in my example, I only had to write at least 3 stories about OnlyFans to get the “top writer status”. So it could be harder in “tags” that many writers are using, like “writing.”

Why do you need to write well and aim for Medium curation and be a Top Writer? Because it could be your ticket to finally getting the Medium Partner Program Bonus which I got not once but twice.

I have to say, my stats are not huge, so if you feel you are being left out of the Bonus extravaganza because it is reserved for the “big guys,” I am telling you I’m neither one of the Medium stars (yet). I have yet crafted a story that has gone viral, the one that can pay my mortgage.

One last thing — OnlyFans

If you are wondering what OnlyFans is, it is a subscription site for adult content, where Bella Thorne is thought to have scammed her “fans” when she made $1 million from her subscribers.

While I may have been paid more than usual, it is a niche that I am not sure I will be writing more stories. First, I don’t know if I have it in me to write sex stories. Well, I tried, and it got me zero views.

But who knows, what happens next, as they say …

Sex sells.
