Medium Partner Program Monthly Wrap Up — May 2022 (Month 3)
47 more stories written!
Wow! It’s so crazy that May has now passed us by. Does anyone else feel like time is accelerating? Is it just old age? Is this what happens to us?
Each year gets shorter and shorter until there are none left at all?
Sorry, a little depressing?
Okay, moving on!
May has been another good month for me here on Medium. While there were a couple of goals I had that weren’t reached, I dare not complain about the forward momentum that I continue to experience on the platform.
As usual, I have thoroughly enjoyed many articles by fellow Medium writers. I think being on this platform, and reading such personal stories, has really opened my eyes up to the resilience of us humans.
I am constantly inspired by the hurdles that people have crossed, and are crossing, in this thing we call life. Knowing that there is no way to go but forward, we all find the strength and resolve to continue on, even in these deeply troubling times.
Speaking of troubling times, this article by John Gorman caught my eye this week. I know it is a bit doom and gloom but I think many people can likely relate to what he says.
We are certainly living through unprecedented times.
This month I continued with my writing for A Taste For Life publication by doing the weekend prompts, and I submitted my week-in-photos to Weeds and Wildflowers each Wednesday. Here are the best-performing articles from those publications:
I submitted a few travel stories to Globetrotters and Digital Global Traveler. Here are a couple from those publications, both of which are from the same 10-week trip that I did in 2008 to Bali, Vietnam, and China.
And my most popular article this month, published in Globetrotters, earned me $4.01! It is this one:
Special thanks to JoAnn Ryan for including the picture of me skiing at 3 or 4 years old on the new Globetrotters banner!
I also wrote a few posts for Six Word Photo Story Challenge this month:
And the most cherished article that I wrote this month was submitted to the publication Tea With Mother Nature and is a dedication to my grandmother, that passed last year, and how she influenced my love of gardening and plants.
I’m happy to say that my own publication, Share Your Creativity, has continued to grow and now has 28 followers and numerous new writers. I will be writing a wrap-up for that also so stay tuned!
I’m also excited to announce that my stories are now getting distributed!
I learned this in early May and was excited to see how it would change my stats. I have to say, though, I haven’t noticed too much change, but I’m not complaining!
I did learn that your stories can be distributed whether or not they are self-published. Read below to learn more about this.
I had one big moment of pride this month when I happened to be reading an article by Robert Knight and he mentioned that my article The Art of Reciprocity was the one that had impacted him the most on Medium.
Thank you so much Robert, I am touched that it meant that much to you!
Okay, now on to the good stuff!
This month I wrote 47 stories which is down from 58 last month. My living situation has largely changed, and we are now faced with a myriad of problems that revolve around unstable electricity and lack of quality internet.
Honestly, getting what I have posted, has been a feat in itself. So I am certainly not down on myself for that!
And while I have written fewer articles, I have still made a bit more money this month than I did last month.
So without further ado, here are my stats and earnings for May:

My views have dropped significantly after they peaked around 12 000 mid-month. But I have read numerous articles from other writers that claim the same thing. I don’t know if it is because it is spring and everyone is outside, or it is the state of the world that has caused people to focus on other things? Whatever it is, it will not stop me from moving forward and continuing my writing. I still have way too many things that I want to write about.
Onward and Upward!
One thing that is interesting to note is that although my visits are down slightly from last month, my reads are pretty much the same. Last month I had 5481 reads, and this month it is at 5455. So while the visits are down, the reads are pretty stable, which is probably why my income continued to go up.
Speaking of which, my total income this month is $65.59 which is up almost $10 from last month. It’s not the $100 club, but it is still forward momentum, which is great.

Last month I ended with close to 700 followers and at the writing of this, I now have just over 900. So while I had hoped to cross the 1K mark, I am still happy to be making new connections with writers and have found more like-minded souls that are sharing their stories on Medium. This past month I have been more selective in who I follow back, so I have noticed that my count will go up and down more because of the people that are just looking for follow for follows.
I don’t want to be doing that, I want engaged readers and a supportive audience.
My top earners this month were:

I’m really happy with this selection and feel that they all represent my storytelling ability well.
I will link them all below in case you would like to read any of them.
As usual, I am over the moon grateful to Medium Staff who make this platform so much fun! I continue to enjoy meeting other writers and making wonderful connections around the world.
And I am so thankful to all of my readers who take the time to clap, comment and engage with me and my writing. It truly does take a community to succeed on this platform, and I LOVE the one that I am building.
Speaking of love, I send out a warm virtual embrace to all of you who may be struggling these days!
Just remember to take life one step at a time, try not to let the big picture overwhelm you, and seek out the small happy moments.
Thanks for reading,
xo Jill
