A Small Offering From the Universe

Spring Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Nature Art”

Broken shells placed together symbolize harmony.

I found this beautiful display at the water's edge on the West Coast of Canada while I lived there.

Though it’s not the most elaborate piece of beach art one could find, I loved the simplicity that it represented. The whole pieces formed the main part of the design, while the broken pieces filled in around it.

This area is rife with clams, muscles, and other shellfish. To open them, the birds fly high in the air and drop them on the rocks, hoping they break open so that they can feast on the insides.

By taking the broken pieces, and putting them together like this, I felt that the creator had brought peace and harmony to an area that is otherwise littered with pieces of shells scattered here and there.

I love it when I discover small bits of nature art like this. It not only uplifts my spirit, but it demonstrates that we are all capable of sitting still and creating in quiet moments while taking in the peaceful nature around us.

Thank you to Mary Chang Story Writer for the spring prompt in your publication. There is still another whole month to get involved in this one!
