Summary

The website content describes an unfolding murder mystery challenge, where Detective Lucy Furr investigates a crime scene reminiscent of a Shakespearean tragedy, with the help of her partner and inspiration from various sources, leading to the identification of a suspect named Ziggy from the Black Tongue Clan.

Abstract

The "October Murder Mystery" presents a challenge to writers to depict an emotionless, unregretful malevolence in a novel without relying on Shakespeare's language. The task is considered suitable for an expert on Shakespeare, Ted van Griethuysen, but in his absence, Detective Lucy Furr takes on the case. Lucy, aided by her partner, draws inspiration from unconventional sources such as Robin Williams and a crime caper novel by Steve Day. The investigation unfolds with photographic documentation of the crime scene at the town hall where the Deluded Custodians met in June 2023. Clues lead to a brothel owner named Madame Georgia, but the true culprit is revealed to be Ziggy, who has a history of evading justice. The narrative is interspersed with links to related content and a YouTube video, providing a multimedia perspective on the murder mystery.

Opinions

  • The author suggests that writing a murder mystery without Shakespearean influence is a significant challenge, implying Shakespeare's unparalleled contribution to the portrayal of villainy.
  • Detective Lucy Furr is portrayed as a capable and resourceful investigator, adept at navigating the complexities of the case despite her unconventional methods and sources of inspiration.
  • The mention of Robin Williams as a source of inspiration indicates a preference for modern cultural references over classical ones in the investigation process.
  • The inclusion of a real-life crime caper novel, "The Nose Knows" by Steve Day, implies that the author values the intersection of fiction and reality in storytelling.
  • The crime scene photos and the reference to "The Calzoncillos Conundrum" add a layer of intrigue and suggest that the mystery involves a colorful cast of characters and locales.
  • The use of humor in the depiction of the suspect, Ziggy, and the mention of his recent shower, adds a light-hearted touch to the otherwise serious narrative.

Malky’s Shakespearean Challenge

A Photo Journal of the Crime Scene Most Horrific

From Malky’s Post: You are writing a murder mystery, and your detective is called to a murder scene that depicts an emotionless, unregretful malignity. How do you write that into your novel without using words first cited by Shakespeare?

This challenge would best be answered by Ted van Griethuysen, the only one on this prestigious writing platform with the proper credentials and life-long knowledge of the Bard.

Until there is or is not an answer from Ted, it’s fallen on Detective Lucy Furr to investigate. She is up to the task. Having read not once, but twice, “The Nose Knows: A Bugle Boy Crime Caper” by Steve Day, aka, DeForest Day.

I, her partner in crime . . er, in solving crimes, educated in So Cal, read little of Shakespeare. For inspiration, I go first to Robin Williams.

And now to the great outdoors to investigate the horrendous event horizon at which Lucy did bark in the night. Across the street of slings and arrows, we did walk and into the field of dreams.

Empty bleachers, a vulture-less backstop, a hole dug in the infield in the muddy Georgia Clay. [not her real name.] Madame Georgia of “Georgia’s Elite”, a brothel sex miles due east. Is she a suspect? Why? Why not?

“A Closer Look” with Seth Meyers, reveals the struggle, so many skeletal remains, it will take Abby months to piece it all together.

But Lucy Furr knows instinctively the hell hound who perpetrated the crime of the century, to be known forever more as “The Calzoncillos Conundrum”.

It’s Ziggy of the Black Tongue Clan. He’s escaped justice yet again.

“I know where to find him.”

“Seriously, Lucy, I just had a shower.”

“Washing away the evidence of your dirty deeds, no doubt.”
