Making $7,000/month is easier than you think
Here's how I’m doing it.

I will admit, I am incredibly fortunate. As a 28-year-old, I have been making more than $70,000 per year for much of my adult life. Now, I’m making just over $84,000 per year.
This doesn’t mean it was easy, though. There are many months where I was working more than I slept. I would put in 12–16 hour days and missed out on making memories with friends.
In the long run, however, it’s was worth it. Making more than $7,000 per month has given me the flexibility I want. Additionally, as I was working most of the time, I was able to save a lot of money. While most of my peers are more than $50,000 in debt, I’ve paid all of mine off and have a savings account worth 2x my yearly expenses.
I don’t say this to brag, but to show you what’s possible when you put your mind to something.
So, if you are looking to make $7,000 per month, here’s how you do it.
How to make $7,000 per month
It’s pretty simple math. If you want to make $7,000 per month, you need:
- One income stream of $7,000
- Two income streams of $3,500
- Five income streams of $1,400
- Ten income streams of $700
The average millionaire has seven income streams, so if you were to follow this advice, each income stream would need to be worth $1,000 each.
Now, I don’t know about you, but when it’s broken down like this, making $7,000 per month seems a lot more attainable to achieve.
Here’s how I make $7,000 per month
- My full-time job makes me $5,500 per month ($66,000 per year).
- Medium usually brings in $100 per month (I’ve made up to $2,000 in one month before).
- Other side-hustles (Shipt, online courses, affiliates) make me $600 per month.
- Managing high school sports ($800 per month).
If you’re just looking at full-time income vs. side hustles, it would look like:
- $5,500 per month from my full-time job.
- $1,500 per month with side hustles.
It’s important to mention that this does not take into account the amount of money I have to pay in taxes. In being an “independent contractor,” roughly 35–40 percent of the month I make goes to taxes, insurance, 401k, and other investments.
How to Make More Money
To say you want to make more money is incredibly vague. First, I would recommend getting specific about what more money looks like for you. How much more do you want to be making? What would more money allow you to do that you aren’t currently able to do? What are you willing to sacrifice to make more money?
It also helps to change your mindset about money. Don’t be scared to set goals, but do be sure to be realistic. The chances of you going from $5,000 per month to $20,000 per month in the next year are slim. Going from $5,000 per month to $7,000 per month is more likely. Then, once you get to $7,000 per month, keep finding ways to make even more money.
The Best Side Hustles to Make More Money
If you want to make more money, you have to be willing to work for it.
My favorite side hustles are:
- Shipt: Basically you are getting paid $25 to $35 per hour to shop and deliver groceries for others. Seriously, it’s the easiest money I’ve ever made.
- Medium: While it takes time to establish yourself on Medium, you can make a lot of money from writing quality content. There have been months where I’ve made $2,000 just from writing.
- YouTube: YouTube is a fun and creative way to make money. While it takes 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 hours of watch time to be able to monetize your channel, the process of making videos is incredibly enjoyable.
- eBay/Craigslist: You would be surprised by how much money you can make from selling the junk that’s just sitting in the corner of your room. When I moved recently, I was able to cover the cost of moving simply from going through my closet and listing old clothes and pieces of technology on eBay.
- Deliver Food: If you don’t like people, consider delivering food using UberEats or Postmates. You don’t make as much as Uber drivers, but delivering food also isn’t the hardest job out there…
- Drive for Uber and Lyft: If you can hold a conversation and don’t mind driving people around, this might be a great option to explore.
Next Steps
I’ve published a lot of articles regarding different ways to make money. Here are a few of them:
Honestly, making $7,000 isn’t as challenging as it may seem.
BUT… there’s a catch.
The catch is that you can’t just wish for it to happen. You have to do whatever it takes to reach your money goals. If that means working late or on the weekends, find the time to do it. You need to take the action needed to achieve your money goals because nobody else is going to do it for you.
Whatever you do, just make sure to start. Don’t wait until tomorrow. Start going after your goals today.
