Depending on your skill set, there are many side hustles you can start that can help you earn an extra $500 every week. The best thing about a side hustle is that you can pick when you want to work and when you don’t want to work. There’s nobody telling you when to clock in or out — it’s just you making some extra cash in your spare time.

- Deliver
There are many companies you can deliver food for. Some of these companies include UberEats, GrubHub, DoorDash, PostMates, etc. If you have a car and live in a relatively populated area, delivering food to customers can be a great way to make some extra cash. The best part about being a delivery driver is that you get to pick when you want to work. You can open the apps when you want to work, and close them when you want to call it a day.
2. Drive
Driving for Uber or Lyft is just like delivering, except instead of picking up and delivering food, you are picking up and dropping people off at their desired location. When you are driving for Uber or Lyft, you make money based on the distance of the trip, the time of day you are driving, and you can also make tips from customers.
3. Shopping
One of my favorite side hustles is Shipt. Shipt is just like Instacart. Essentially, you are making money by grocery shopping for others and then dropping the groceries off at their house once you are done. You will make a certain percentage of the total cost of the order, a flat delivery fee, and you can also make tips from customers once you drop the order off at the desired location. There were some weekends where I was averaging $30-$35 per hour just by shopping for others.
4. Tutor
One of the best side hustles right now is tutoring English as a second language to kids overseas. So, if you are knowledgeable on a specific topic, and have a bachelor’s or a master’s degree, consider a side hustle as a tutor. If you are a teacher, that’s an added benefit as you already know how to teach and can make some great money on the side doing it. You can choose the subject you want to help students with, the age you want to tutor, and when you want to tutor.

5. Teach
Another side hustle that can pay well is creating online courses and teaching a certain skill. There are many sites such as SkillShare and Udemy that allow creators to create a course around a specific topic or skill, and teach others about that topic or skill. Teaching via online courses is one of the best sources of passive income. Once you publish your class, you don’t have to do anything. There are teachers out there who have turned this side hustle into a full-time income simply from teaching topics and skills they are knowledgeable on.
6. Freelance
There are a ton of ways to make money online from freelancing. If you know how to do graphic design, blog, make videos, code, or have any technical skill, you can make money freelancing online. You can charge your own rate, choose what projects you want to take, and decide when you want to work. If this is something that interests you, look on sites such as Fiverr or Upwork.
7. Rent
One of the coolest ways to make some extra money is by renting. You can rent out just about anything and make some serious cash doing so. This can include a room in your home, your car, storage space in your garage or laundry room, your car, etc. With renting, you can choose when you want to rent these things out for, how long you want to rent them out for, and the cost you want to rent them for. There are some who are making an extra $600 just from renting their car on days they aren’t using it simply from listing it on Turo.
8. Flip
The name of the game: Buy low, sell high.
Flipping items is a fun way to make money and it’s almost a game. If you have discount department stores close to you such as TJ Maxx, Homegoods, Marshalls, etc., go to one of these stores, buy items for a discounted price, and sell them on eBay or Facebook marketplace for a higher price. You can also do this with any clearance shelf. Buy items that are on clearance and sell them for the sticker value. There are a ton of people out there who have turned flipping into their full-time job. You can also flip houses. Obviously this would come with a risk, but there’s also a bigger reward if you do it properly.
