Freelance writers can make a lot of money on a monthly basis just from creating for themselves, other bloggers, or even larger businesses. In fact, there have been several months where I’ve made more than $2,000 just from blogging.

The best part about blogging is that you don’t need any professional writing experience or a bachelor’s degree in English. I am an average writer and majored in exercise science…

All you really need is a laptop, some basic writing skills, and some basic knowledge about a specific topic. Personally, I love talking and writing about different ways to make money. In doing so, I am making a few extra hundred dollars per month.

Starting your own blog is a great way to grow your writing skills. If you are looking for a free place to write, start on Medium. Not only can you practice your writing skills, but you can start making money from your first article.

Some other ways you can make money writing include:

- Ghost writing

- Copywriting

- Writing for sales and landing pages

- Content writing

- Social media content

If you have advanced writing skills, take your skills to Fiverr or Upwork where you can charge a premium price for it.

2. Virtual Tutoring

Virtual tutoring is a great way to make some extra cash simply by sharing the knowledge you already possess. Now, virtual tutoring isn’t going to generate passive income. It is going to require that you meet with students on a one-on-one basis to tutor them with subjects they are currently enrolled in. You can also do group sessions to make more money in the same time.

There are several online tutoring services you can apply to. These are going to include companies such as:

- Chegg Tutors

- Skooll

- Wyzant

- TutorMe

- Tutor.com

- Smarthinking

According to tutors.com, tutor typically make around $30 per hour, but they can make up to $50 to $60 per hour for helping students prepare for the SAT or ACT.

3. Virtual Assistant

Virtual assistants make a surprisingly good amount of money. Most virtual assistants make anywhere between $19,000 to $46,000 per year, so making $1,000 might not be all that difficult.

As a virtual assistant, you are going to be responsible for:

- Responding to emails

- Handling administrative tasks

- Managing social media accounts

- Scheduling appointments and meetings

According to ZipRecruiter, there are some virtual assistants who are making $115,000 per year. That’s nearly 10x your goal of $1,000 per month.

It is important to note that you do need to be highly organized as a virtual assistant. If you are someone who is constantly running late and forgetting to complete tasks of your own, maybe this isn’t the best option for you.

4. Etsy

If you are into arts and crafts, or if you have a physical product to sell, you should look into starting an Etsy shop.

Etsy is an online storefront where you can sell both handmade and vintage items. My sister used to crochet sink scrubbers and would sell them on Etsy for $9.99 a pack. Granted it wasn’t a lot of money, she loved to crochet and was able to make money from something she would have been doing anyways.
