Magnolia Blossoms and Suspicious Householders — oops!

More blue and yellow flowers

This magnolia tree was amazing and I was trying to get a decent picture of it with PupperJack going a bit bonkers and yanking on his lead in one hand, (I think there was a dog on the other side of the road that he’d taken exception to), and jiggling my camera arm; and a howling wind making the tree branches sway, and all the photos blurry, and then I realised there was a householder staring at me from a window of the house behind the magnolia.

He wasn’t smiling. He was scowling horribly. Horribly scowling.

I smiled at him tentatively. Did he think I was going to damage his tree? I held my camera up further to show him I was just trying to take a photo of the magnolia.

By this time, PupperJack had seen him, too, and was shouting at him. Fiercely. He didn’t like the gestures the householder was now making at us.

Maybe taking a photo of the magnolia would steal his soul … Maybe that’s why he looked so cross

Eek!

Anyway, this (above) was the best picture I could scavenge from a whole load of utterly useless ones. May it bring blessings on his house.

PupperJack and I went to the graveyard this week to see our silent friends.

Some of them are there because of previous wars.

Plato said: “Only the dead have seen the end of war.”

People had been to visit their own silent people, and taken spring-flowering plants.

It’s really weird the way my photos of flowers at the moment all end up being blue and yellow — the colours of Ukraine.

I took this photo just because of the amazing colour of the hyacinth. And, there it is — another blue!

It’s very hard to not obsess about Ukraine. It’s all such a tragedy.

So — another painting above of sunflowers — their national flower. With another little flower blending in with them.

And again — the chance to put this quote in:

Helen Keller said, “Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadows. It’s what the sunflowers do.”

I’ve just discovered that today — 14th March — is National Napping Day — PupperJack and I are miffed because it’s too late for us to get a nap in before bedtime. But we’re still going to mention it in case somewhere in the world someone will see this and still have time for a nap.

This is PupperJack looking hard-done-by having missed an official nap-day.

He still wishes everyone else in the world all the best naps, though.

Dennett started the Photo-a-Day Challenge to help combat the pandemic blues. I’m delighted that she is continuing to do so despite Medium’s sabotage of our picture liberties.
