Love Sent in an Apple Pie
Abundance can be shared across the miles

Abundance is already within you. Let it out. -Laura Emily
In the afternoon yesterday, I sent abundance and love in the form of an apple pie. Packed in a box, wrapped in bubble wrap, taped shut, awaiting the joy of being received, this pie is on its way. On my 100-day journey studying overflow in the world, I have found ways of loving everyone.
As I stood in our kitchen, wood floor beneath my feet, I could feel the joy being transferred to the apples as I peeled them. I took care to go slowly, thinly slicing each apple as I went. There was no rush. Carefully choosing spices to blend into the tart apples, I mixed the filling. I made sure there were plenty of flavors to impart the love transformed into this pie.
I made the pie crust with the same care. I love to feel each piece of cold butter, folding it into the flour, sugar, and salt. As I blend the ingredients together, happiness unfolds. I waited as the dough chilled; and prepared the oven, the topping, and my heart.
I rolled out the crust, feeling the familiar touch of my wooden rolling pin. This is the vehicle for the apples to impart their magical joy. I slowly crimped the edges with precision, forming each triangle with my fingers and feeling the dough’s softness.
It was time to assemble the components of a pie made with love, to be enjoyed and savored in a loved one’s home. To be tasted and shared with love in all of our hearts. As I spooned the apples into the crust and sprinkled the topping on, I knew that this pie would bring smiles to faces. I carefully put it in a paper bag and stapled it shut. Into the oven it went with glee, creating magical alchemy beneath the paper.
In an hour it emerged from the bag with joy, ready to be cooled and packed for its journey. Lovingly wrapped, it will make its way, to another home.
My prayer and my intention for you today is that you create some love to send to another. You can create something in your kitchen to share, or maybe send a card or a poem in the mail. The love that is sent will arrive with joy.
Day #27: How can you send something with love?
Here is the pie recipe I used. It is a Brown Bag Apple Pie. You put the whole pie in a brown paper bag and the pie bakes inside. Give it a try! The only thing I changed is that I added extra cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg to the filling. Enjoy!
