Love Has Become A Strange Feeling For Me
True love does not exist
I have been witnessing too many peculiar love stories lately, to the point where the concept of love has become foreign to me.
This article centers around one of my closest friend’s most dramatic and poignant love story.
Introduction
She is my college friend. We met for the first time in September 2009. That was the year I started engineering. She is a very charming girl who radiates happiness with her smile.
She was my roommate’s class fellow and best friend. That was the reason I knew her. Let us call her — SIMA (fictional name). Slowly, she became a close friend of mine too.
She and my roommate had a massive group of friends, and they used to have so much fun together.
This story that I am discussing, started when Sima started liking a boy from her group. Let us call that boy — REHAN.
Rehan was unaware of the whole situation and was attracted to another girl. Let us call this girl — ZOYA.
Zoya was unaware of Rehan’s feeling too. However, friends would tease Rehan and Zoya very often. They would blush and let it go.
Budding Love
Meanwhile, Sima’s feelings started growing stronger with each passing day. She finally decided to confess her love to him. This whole proposal to him plan was going on for a few days.
I was unaware of this. Because Sima and her friends considered not telling me about it in the planning phase. When she finally decided to propose to him the next day, she and my roommate told me the whole story.
I asked Sima not to do it. There were many reasons behind that. A few of them are listed:
- Rehan was already attracted to Zoya, and everyone knew that.
- In countries like India, it is not a good idea when a girl proposes to a boy. They say the boy must approach the girl first (I am not a fan of this idea, but we live in that world, and when in ROME, do as ROMANS do).
- They both came from two very different cultural backgrounds and religions altogether. It was unlikely for such relationships to have a good fate.
Nevertheless, She didn’t listen to any of my advice, and went ahead and proposed to him. It was the talk of the day, and this news was trending.
After a day, Rehan accepted her proposal and they both were in a declared relationship. Rehan’s attraction to Zoya faded away with time and they just remained good friends later on.
Sima still was very insecure about Zoya. She always doubted Rehan thinking he still felt something more than friendship about Zoya.
Time passed, and their relationship kept growing stronger with every passing day.
After four years of the Btech course, it was time to leave the college and move to different locations as they got jobs in two different cities.
There was this breakup-patch-up relationship going on between them.
However, they stuck together for another four years. In 2018, they both decided to move to the USA together for higher studies.
Meanwhile, they also told about their relationship in the family and it was a big NO-NO from both sides.
Sima’s parents agreed to it, but Rehan’s were still dead against it.
A new chapter of their life
Anyhow, they both shifted to the USA by the end of 2018. Rehan was staying at his uncle’s home which was near the university and Sima had to find a shared flat for herself.
Rehan behaved differently since they started the application process back in India. Sima even suspected that he was meeting Zoya when he said he had to go home once before flying to the USA.
However, she ignored it because she didn’t want any problems between her and Rehan.
Now in the USA, Rehan was changing. Like, he would avoid meeting Sima. He would make excuses that his uncle would doubt him if he came out of the house on weekends as he knew about them and that she was also in the same university.
Sima was getting hurt every day. She was all alone there. She had no friends.
A few months later, Rehan said to Sima, ‘I thought a lot about us, and I think we should take a break. Let’s focus on our studies as we have spent a lot to come here, and I think our relationship is hampering my studies.’
Sima was shocked. She did not know what to do.
Rahan seemed to do quite fine without her, but, she was breaking inside every day.
It took her almost a year to move on. She made friends there and started enjoying her life.
When she finally moved on, Rehan tried to get back together with her, but this time she stayed strong and declined his request.
A few months later (CLIMAX)
One morning, Sima was casually browsing through her phone when she stumbled upon a photo that had been sent to a group chat, which left her feeling shocked.
It was an engagement pic of Rehan and Zoya.
Although she moved on in her life, she felt cheated for all those years when she was with Rehan. Nobody in our group could believe this news. Because almost everyone in our university, from seniors to juniors to professors, knew about Sima and Rehan.
Everyone thought they would be getting married. However, this did not happen.
Rehan got married to Zoya last month.
They had a perfect ending to their love story while my friend Sima was just wasting her time with Rehan for ten years.
PS: Sima is still single and has put herself into another complicated situation.
Moral of the story:
No amount of time could be enough to know who loves you truly. There exists no never-ending love in this world.
The only love you can trust in your heart is, love for yourself.
Love yourself, and the world will love you too!
That’s a wrap!
