Lost in the Forest

A chapter of a ‘choose your own’ story — drabble edition.

This is a continuation of The Burned Village, a ‘choose your own’ fiction story, “drabble edition”. For the previous chapter, head back to ‘Rapid Departure’ or ‘Allies in the Night’, both by JF Danskin. Or find out how to contribute to the ongoing story here.

As you walk through the night alone, the first signs of hunger remind you that you have no rations, no water, and no place to rest. You will probably regret setting up on this adventure alone, but it's too late to go back. Your family needs you.

Suddenly, two subtle voices catch your attention. They are coming from a nearby place in the forest. You have to get off-road to get closer. You approach stealthily, trying not to make a sound. As you approach behind the bushes, you see fire. Around it, there is a man and a child.

You decide to:

  1. Reveal yourself and approach carefully. You don’t want to scare them (click here).
  2. Pull out your axe and attack them. They look like trouble (click here).
  3. Leave the place unnoticed. Just like you came (click here).
