Local Safaris
Pulling on the reins for the last time
Last month my partner started giving me the famous blue and white capsules, the curiosity pills, as Ken West, their inventor, called them. It’s supposed to make you want to travel to exotic places.
I was so excited about it, willing to discover our solar system and even distant stars like never before. I could feel the urge for journeys flowing in my veins. HA! I couldn’t wait to meet all these new people. Strangers and Aliens from other galaxies alike. What a blast it would be!
But my partner also gave me the green capsules — secretly, the so-called leash pills. They make a fickle husband like myself stay at home.
Yeah, being on a leash is sad.
On the plus side, I’m discovering new corners of our house every day. I would never have guessed we stored the hoover in the broom closet next to the kitchen. And we even have hooks for hose and other pieces. So clever.
The dishwasher is also fascinating; so many crumbs and gooey stuff in the filters. That’s not something I had expected when I started my dishwasher safari four days ago. It was one of my favorites so far. But it came to an abrupt end yesterday when I discovered the green capsules under the stash of detergent tabs.
I opened them all and replaced the powder with sugar.
In a few days, the last effects will have worn off, and I’ll be on my way to another galaxy.
No more leash for me!
Thanks to Ken for his inspiring postcard story
and to May for putting him on my radar with her lift.
Here’s how to write for Microcosm. We’d love to see your stories.
