Updated Submission Guidelines

As we grow, our mandate grows with us

With our recent spurt in growth, and with new writers with different backgrounds and interests, we’ve updated our Submission Guidelines, as well as broken out our Formatting Guidelines, to make things easier to follow.

Below, you will find those guides, as well as our editorial philosophy. Please read them, as they will only help your submission to Microcosm.

For the TL;DR: crowd, which none of us are, the biggest change is this paragraph:

All genres and adult themes are welcome, sensual erotica is ok and graphic violence within reason is fine. The odd bit of swearing is a part of life, but aim for verisimilitude rather than shock value through F-bombs.

Basically, hot, throbbing bodies intertwined as the killer slowly slices open the CEO’s chest is A-OK, but don’t be too graphic about it.

If you want to be graphic, look at the Micro Erotica pub that I am involved with. It allows erotic and transgressive fiction that isn’t allowed at Microcosm.
