PHOTO-A-DAY CHALLENGE
Let's Go to the Lake!
Week 147 of the photographic documentary of my daily life
It's been a great week. Between blue skies and sunshine, we went up and down in the plane. Teaching students how to skydive and take adventure enthusiasts on a tandem jump. It's our job to make you happy.
Getting plenty of positive feedback from my guests and students this week, I was on a roll. Enjoying my work and being active day in and day out, I did have a good week.
Spotting wildlife doesn't get old. At least not for me. When we first moved into the trailer, we saw up to a dozen deer per day out of our kitchen window. Then, almost simultaneously with the start of the bloom of the dandelions, they disappeared entirely. At least from the meadow in front of the trailer park. That was when the rabbits appeared instead.
And now, we still see deer but mostly in the forest or across the fields. Today I got lucky spotting this one running across the now-mowed meadow.

The following day was a successful one for students as I progressed two girls onto solo status. This means after a last jump with an instructor, they are signed off to jump out of the plane by themselves. With no supervision of an instructor. It's quite a big step for them. And for us.

Did I mention the rodents? Here they are. Our Brown Hare. Feeding on the runway as that's where the best grass is growing. That makes sense, right?

Yes, I did say we got blue skies and sunshine. Here's some proof. This was real Sunday weather. Just that I am working on Sundays. But who cares if this is the view from the office chair?
Not bad, right?

Monday was a public holiday, so instead of having our day off, we were working one more day. And since the Bavarian school kids have holidays, lots of flights are taking off from Munich airport, restricting our airspace.
On one of the flights, the air traffic controller sent our pilot all the way across to the Brombachsee. I didn't mind. Usually, we only see the lake from a distance, but flying above it, I couldn't just spot a ferry crossing the lake but also inspect it and plan our next adventure.
Yes, things I do while my passenger is contemplating life and rethinking why they decided to jump out of an airplane.

And here I am. One day later. Still sunny. Still blue skies.
We packed the car and drove half an hour to reach the far end of the lake or what is the smaller one of the lakes.
Kleiner Brombachsee.
My playground for the next 36 hours or so. Yes, we'll stay over here.

Of course, I had my paddleboard in the car. Once inflated, I was gone. Three times, I went out on the water. The last session I did after dinner. The sun only sets past 9 pm these days giving us plenty of daylight.

First I saw the swans with their cygnets on the far end of the lake, later I spotted a few families of Egyptian Geese. The goslings were brought to land to feed on the fresh grass.

After a night of sleeping in the car, we woke up early to the singing of the birds. Before breakfast, I grabbed my board once again and headed out for one more paddle session.
We then decided to go for a walk on a trail surrounding lake Kleiner Brombachsee. The wind was blowing a bit but the sun was shining. Countless families passed us on their bicycles.
Halfway around the lake, we walked on the dam wall separating the big from the small lake. It was interesting to see how much choppier the water on the bigger lake was compared to the one we camped at.

This has been my week in photographs. 7 days. 7 photographs. Anyone can join. Once. Or weekly. It doesn’t matter. We welcome everyone! Dennett started this photography challenge in 2020 and many have participated ever since.
