PHOTO-A-DAY CHALLENGE

Rain Drops, Clouds and Bunnies on the Fields

Week 145 of the photographic documentary of my daily life

It has rained some more, we have seen more cloudy skies than sunshine and the bunnies were active in the fields. I'm not complaining. The country needs rain and therefore clouds. But we need some blue skies in between to be able to work.

However, even if we couldn't jump for most of the days, we found joy in our days by walking across the fields and spotting wildlife in the lush green meadows.

It was one of those days. Rain all day long. I couldn’t write or read anymore. I didn’t want to see the laptop or my tablet. I had enough of sitting inside our small but cozy trailer and just wanted to go outside.

“It’s raining.” — my husband replied when I asked him if he wanted to join.

I knew that. But I didn’t care. I had to get out. And so I did. Alone. With my raincoat, winter boots and several layers of clothes. It hadn’t stopped raining in like 48 hours. Great for the country but not so much for those whose income depends on sunny days.

Off I went. With the hoodie of my jacket deep over my face, I could walk without getting wet. And while my eyes were on the ground, I almost missed the bunnies. Or hare, as they are called. The correct term is ‘Brown Hare’. I saw six of them on this hike in the rain. But not all of them were as entertaining as the two below.

Talking about better wetter the following day? Certainly not. See below.

But, that same day we finally got to see some blue skies. It was around sunset and still didn’t allow us to jump as one could see the next weather front moving in but at least there was hope.

Hope for nothing. While it didn’t rain the following day, we didn’t get to see the sun again. Not even a patch of blue sky. But as it wasn’t raining, I could convince David to come with me for a long walk across the fields.

We saw more hares. This one was kind of funny as it stopped in front of the hunter’s hide pulling his leg and saying “catch me if you can.”

And while I have missed the deer in the past two weeks, I got lucky today again spotting one jumping through the tall grass in the fields. They have become rare since our meadow exploded in dandelions and I wonder if they don’t like those flowers.

Talking about fields. Did I mention the rapeseed fields are in full bloom? And yes, I love it. As you might know yellow is my favorite color. And I am smiling with these views from above.

We did get to jump today even if the weather wasn’t perfect. Still some clouds in the air as you can see. But check out the pictures I took for you. Aren’t those fields of yellow pretty?

Contrary to the rapeseed fields, the dandelion field in front of our trailer isn’t yellow anymore. The flowers have transformed and thousands of white bulbs are hanging full of seeds.

Blowballs.

After taking a scenic picture of our view outside the trailer in the daytime, I thought I’d try one at night as well. Those wind turbines are blinking regularly but the color kind of fitted the late sunset vibes that day.

Here we go. Got nothing for you today. Just my face. Hanging upside down in the sky. With some patches of clouds below and countless yellow rapeseed fields.

Is this something that would make you laugh Dennett?
