Learning to Care For Your Body, Home and Spirit

Day 40: Life will open up to you beautifully when you love your whole self

Yesterday I learned a lesson in caring for myself and my environment. I decided to deep clean our car on the inside. I took some soap, water, and a cloth, and cleaned the whole inside of the car as well as vacuuming it. I encountered an old, sticky, hard piece of candy in the pocket door where my son usually sits. I sorted through lots of old, expired papers from our glove box. I found old lightbulbs in bags under the seat that I need to take in to recycle. It was an adventure in going down memory lane!

When I was almost done cleaning, I came upon a beautiful, polished gray agate in the middle console. It was a gift from life for taking good care of what we have been given. I learned that gray agates are energies of grounding, calming, and protection. This was just the message I needed to receive from the universe! I am so grateful for this shining stone, a symbol of caring. I am surprised and delighted daily by the lessons I learn in life. Each day I glean key takeaways from the book The Force by Stuart Wilde. It is part of my 100-day journey.

Throughout this journey, I have started walking at least 10,000 steps a day, sometimes up to 18,000 steps. I have always loved walking and hiking. I have rediscovered this beautiful way to care for my body. Now I feel grounded each day. Exercise is an amazing way to generate energy in your body that carries over to your spirit. Think about how a generator spins faster and faster to create electricity. This is what we do each day when we move our bodies through exercise.

In the summer, I wear open-toed shoes, even while walking. This sometimes causes my feet to get very dry. Yesterday I felt a pain in my foot and I thought it was a splinter. Upon closer inspection, I found out it was a crack in my foot due to dry skin. Yesterday evening, I decided to care for my feet by taking a foot bath and hydrating my feet overnight with a foot lotion. As I sunk my exhausted feet into the warm and soapy water, I felt a renewal of my spirit through caring for my body. I decided I would do the same thing each morning after my walk. It is time to take better care of myself, not only my spirit but my body as well.

Your evolutionary learning process is dominated by your ability to recognize and control the ebb and flow of energy around you. For like all energy, metaphysical energy is volatile. It never stays still. If it is not going up, it is going down. Even though you will never have a concrete experience of the force, your feelings will tell you when it is with you and when it is not; and soon you will train yourself to recognize the subtleties of energy affecting your life.

I believe this is true. Over time, we notice how the energy around us changes. When we are aware of our feelings, we will know how to adjust the energy flow in our lives. When we tend to our bodies by exercising daily, caring for our skin, hydrating with lots of water, and eating healthy and vibrant foods, we will feel vibrancy all around us. Our lives are like a bubbling, clear stream. If we dam the flow of water with lack of exercise and unhealthy foods, our energy wanes.

Nurturing our home environment also has an effect on the energy all around us. I have experimented with this lately. I have started taking more time to regularly clean our home and take care of our garden each day. I always had a daily routine, but I have put more effort into keeping the energy flowing in our home by cleaning common areas more frequently. The energy feels more spirited and alive now. Sweeping and mopping the floors, trimming and watering the plants, and putting love into pampering our home brings in life-affirming energy.

The affirmation below brings brilliant light into your heart. Being a custodian of your life and loving what you already have creates a protective bubble all around you. You are learning to create a zest for life to support yourself.

What I am is the force within. I am not my body. I am not my emotions. I am not my mind. I am eternal, immortal, and infinite, and what I am has beauty and strength, and there is nothing that I cannot learn to control.

-Stuart Wilde

My prayer and my intention for you today is to notice how you are taking care of your body and your environment. Have you found a way to exercise that brings you joy and energy? Are you caring for your home environment, making sure it is clean and tidy each day? How do the energy in your body and your home feel? You are alive! You are vibrant! You are a generator of energy!

How are you caring for your energy today?
