Finding My Zen with These Water Puppies

As someone with a busy schedule, I was looking for a way to escape life’s constant hustle and bustle. I needed a hobby to help me find inner peace and tranquility. And that’s how I stumbled upon koi fish keeping.
You know what, I like to introduce myself as a fan of aquarium fish. In my childhood, I have a little fish tank in my room — a small rectangular tank. I spent hours and hours, staring at those little fish swimming around the tank. But with time, I had to give up these buddies because I had to prioritize other things like exams and uni life.
So, one day, as I was passing by an Aquarium, I saw a beautiful Red & White pattern of creatures swimming around in a pond. I was immediately hooked (pun intended). Those fish were so elegant and graceful, I knew I had to have them.
So I did have them, not on the very same day. Because I needed a few weeks to create a home for them.
I’ll be honest, I’m no koi fish expert. I just knew that they were easy to maintain, and their bright colors would add some life to my backyard. So, I went ahead and set up a large pond for them. And let me tell you, it was a lot of work. I had to dig a hole in my courtyard, concrete the bottom and sides, lay down some sand as a bed, install a filter, decorate it with aqua plants, and much more. But I persevered, and in the end, it was worth it.
Now, when it comes to koi fish, there are so many types to choose from. But after doing some research, I settled with a few of them. But Kohaku is my favorite. Because they are the same type who start all of this with their Red-White body. And again, who wouldn’t want a fish with a name like that? It just sounds fancy.
But let me tell you, owning koi fish isn’t all fun and games. They require some routine maintenance work, like cleaning the pond and feeding them regularly. But honestly, I don’t mind it. Sitting by the pond and watching them swim around is almost therapeutic. It’s like watching your own personal aquatic ballet.
And the best part? I can feel my inner Zen when I’m around them. I don’t know what it is about these water puppies, but they just have a calming effect on me. It’s like they’re telling me to slow down, take a deep breath, and enjoy the moment.
So, if you’re looking for a way to take a break from your busy life, I highly recommend you get a couple of koi fish. Yeah! It is true that they may require some manual labor. But the rewards are totally worth the effort. And most importantly, you get a chance to brag that they own a fish with a fancy name like Kohaku.
