Inspired by Christine Graves’s prompt in Promptly Written and LM’s response thereto

Kisses

An acrostic poem

Klimpt’s “The Kiss” — Public Domain

Killing me softly Inside us we intertwine Soft flesh merging Stiff and engorged pulsatingly draw me in clasping with all your being Energizing and enervating little deaths Synchronous dances of love

Regarding the fifth line:

In French, one of the phrases for an orgasm is “La petite mort.”

Enervating is an antonym of energizing.

Christine issued 28 one-word prompts for each day of the month of love, in which I happen to have been born — y’all can wish me happy birthday on the day after Valentine’s Day.

I urge you all to read this next linked creation in response to the same prompt by a fantastic new writer on the platform, LM. For many months she has diligently read the stories of others and gained well over 100 followers simply from readers and writers who have read her meaningful engagement with the stories she read. Now that she has dipped her toe into writing, please give her the rewards and accolades she is due.

Here are my five short acrostic poems that Christine’s words for the day for Feb 1–5 inspired:

Marcus (Gregory Maidman)
