Oh L’amour

A series of five acrostic poems prompted by Christine Graves’s daily prompts — Feb 1 through Feb 5

Here are Christine’s prompts:

Here are the words for days one through five of the month of love:

Love, Hearts, Passion, Roses, and Amore.

Here are my responses — based on the number of letters available and my decision to create acrostics, the first poem is a dodoitsu (similar to tanka but 7/7/7/5) and the fourth and fifth poems are American cinquains (2/4/6/8/2).

Lasting or maybe not so Overwhelming regardless Virtuous nevertheless Encompassing all

For further thoughts behind that poem:

Home Emotions reside Atrial pumps of life Resoundingly thump Tabernacles of our souls Syncopated beats of love

Pulsating breaths of life and belief Adorning my sleeves with heart Stampeding past gates of fear Steering my ship away from fools towards islands in the sun Onward spiritual soldiers Neverneverland exists

In Neverland, Zendaya is not age-inappropriate for my passion:

I actually only discovered that song and video after I wrote the poem and searched neverland on YouTube. It had nothing to do with what I had in mind when I wrote the poem — or did it…? What do you think?

For the songs that I did have in mind in the fourth and fifth lines:

Rosso Oasis yet stems full of prickly thorns Evade their fangs accept kiss Sexy

Amour My heart bleeds thee Orgasms far too short Repeating though makes cockles sing Eros

Now the song that inspired my title:

For all of you who did not come of age in the 80s, once there was a band named Yaz, comprised of Vince Clarke (musician) and Allison Moyet (singer). When Allison departed for her solo career, Vince launched a talent search and the closest voice he found to Allison’s belonged to Andy Bell, and Erasure was born.

Here is my favorite Yaz song — it’s superbly poignant:
