KDP Feels Like a Chore (KDP Blog Jan 11, 2024)

I spent about an hour and a half on KDP today. This involved reviewing A+ content for a book my VA created for me, and providing feedback for revisions. I also assigned him two more projects: the first, a research task to analyse a failed activity book from last year and to conduct extensive research to improve on it, and the second, to create A+ content for another book. These two tasks combined cost me $40, plus PayPal fees.
KDP can feel like a chore at times
Working on my KDP business often feels like a chore, reminiscent of a 9–5 job. There are moments of excitement, but often, I find myself lacking motivation. However, I believe this is natural and it’s unrealistic to always expect constant motivation and excitement.
Regardless of my motivation levels, I consistently dedicate about two hours daily to the business. Treating any venture seriously, as one would a traditional job, is crucial to success. For instance, an employee at a supermarket can’t choose to work only when motivated; such inconsistency would likely result in them losing their job.
Take any endeavour you pursue seriously. Consistency and dedication are key, regardless of your motivation levels.
A productivity tip I just recalled
When working on your hustle, whether it’s KDP or something else, if a distracting thought arises, instead of attending to it mid-task, jot it down in a notepad or notes app to attend to later. I believe I picked up this tip from a book. It has significantly boosted my productivity, allowing me to accomplish more during my designated KDP time.
