Hello dear ILLUMINATION readers, if you haven’t teleported over to Technology Hits yet, you might like to get a taste of what’s on offer. This is a little cross-pollination between publications. We like to share and keep you in the loop.

We have some fresh new writers on Tech Hits this week. Topics include memes and freemium apps, a fashion AI, more NFTs but cheaper than Beeple’s, and seahorse fractals.

First up, Brajendra Kumar, with his excellent review of freemium apps. Useful to know if you want to use technological tools to store your digital masterpieces, improve your customer relationship marketing, and team communications.

Freemium may be a new word for us. Many are also aware of this. If this is a new word, we can understand it as a combination of two words: free and premium. Now, we will find out what Freemium is and does.

Artificial intelligence in the fashion industry, really? Surely only an expert eye will do to ensure the desired look? Not so, according to this intriguing article from Elena Beliaeva-Baran.

The ability to predict trends and directions is an essential part of every business. Especially, we can see the need to keep your hand on a pulse in the fashion industry.

I had no idea memes were used as marketing tools, did you? Thanks to Thiru Anand, now I feel illuminated.

A simple meme can become a sensation overnight, and that is happening every day. What I mean is thousands and thousands of memes are being posted daily and a single post becomes a trend and a huge market is behind that.

A fascinating view of Mynah Marie’s use of NFTs to package all the elements of her creativity. Cool. She also charges much less than Beeple.

I stared at my screen in disbelief for a few seconds. If this was a video from some unknown YouTuber, I would’ve probably taxed it as clickbait, but the video was from a channel I know and like so I clicked the link and watched… and then…

I couldn’t resist ending with fractals from Dr Mehmet Yildiz. I read his article in February 2020 when we were both just starting out on this platform. I left a private note, which I rediscovered today, and thought I’d share here.

I adore fractals! I tried to find one, above all others, that I could have tattooed on my back. But I loved all of them and couldn’t decide, so abandoned the idea!

I think I might put fractals back on my list for tattoos. Whenever they reopen the tattoo parlours, that is.

To return to DMY’s article, what further impressed me was the Dr knew Benoit Mandelbrot.

Fractals were invented and created by one of my distinguished mentors in IBM.

I believe that art and science are strongly interrelated and philosophy fills in the gaps and provides essential connectivity. Technology and engineering make the relationships tangible and concrete. I am not sure about politics and religion though hence need to explore the relationship from the body of knowledge.

To finish, here’s a fabulous video of Benoit Mandelbrot’s Ted Talk that aired three months before he passed away. I urge you to watch. He made me laugh several times. I also found several fractal tattoo possibilities towards the end of his talk should you be interested in getting your own tattoo.

Thank you for reading.
