Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson Rises to the Cream of the Top, A Historical Making Day
How Ketanji Brown Jackson aimed her sights higher than her teacher’s suggestion.

The glass is always half full. In the midst of a lot of darkness, light always finds its way through at the appointed time. When it does, it illuminates countless hearts with more hope.
Yesterday was monumental for people of color, the democrats, and all the supporters of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson who hoped and prayed for this day to come without much negative fanfare.
Judge Jackson’s appointment to the Supreme Court as the first Black woman to hold such a seat is huge and way overdue. The Supreme Court should be representative of all the people, not a small minority.
All things happen at the perfect time and in a perfect way. When Justice Stephen G. Breyer made public his decision to retire, little thought was given to his predecessor until all were reminded of President Biden’s promise to appoint a Black woman if he was elected president. Thank God he kept his promise.
Thereafter the suspense began and everyone wondered who would be the lucky lady to land such a seat on the Supreme Court, the highest court in the land. When President Biden made his choices known to the public, many advisors to the president chimed in with their preferences for the seat.
Then there was the leftist, GOP, who were appalled at the thought of a Black female judge being appointed to such a seat but thanks to Justice Thurgood Marshall who paved the way for this to happen.
Having watched the televised confirmation hearing confirmed the racist agenda the GOP possessed as they asked questions of Judge Jackson that were utterly disgraceful from supposedly educated politicians.
After this atrocity of a confirmation hearing, Judge Jackson held her on and did not flinch for a moment in the face of questions like, “What is the definition of a woman?, per Judge Amy Coney Barrett appointed by Trump. She was also asked to rate Christianity on a scale of 1 to 10 where she rated. This type of questioning bespeaks the GOP’s racist tactics to not confirm her.
The Gop tried to land punches by distorting her record on sentencing criminals as a trial judge and took moments to patronize her. Ironically, when Amy Coney Barrett and Cavenaugh were appointed to the Supreme Court, none of this nonsensical behavior was apparent during the confirmation hearing. Again, racism speaks loud and clear.
Equally notable was the evening that she was confirmed and was applauded with a standing ovation, all of the GOP but one filed out of the room like little wounded children. God help whom they lead. Honestly, it would be safer to follow a sight-impaired person than these men/boys politicians.
Judge Jackson was not given this position, she earned every bit of this title probably unlike many who currently sit on the bench. She is the first Black woman to be appointed to the bench, only the third Black justice, and the sixth woman to serve on the Supreme Court.
During the confirmation hearing, Senator Cory Booker summed up what her appointment meant to America, the Blacks, and all the women of color from the young to the old. It was heartwarming, as it touched Judge Jackson’s heart as she wiped away a tear while Booker spoke about how her journey was impactful and reflected the plight of his mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and all the women of color.
Being successful and Black in America does not come without trepidation, pain, and discouragement. During the hearing, Judge Jackson emotionally shared her journey on the grounds of Harvard University as a freshman and how she was filled with fear of being there as one Black lady appeared and encouraged her not to fear, and that encouragement carried her throughout her life’s pursuits.
Thereafter Judge Jackson went on to become a law clerk to Supreme Court Justice Stephen G. Breyer, the same judge who is retiring and will replace him on the bench of the Supreme Court. Wow!! Talk about karma!
From a law clerk to the Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit and now the Supreme Court. That encouragement that was received from a Black lady had driven her to succeed, and now she pays it forward by counseling young people to pursue their dreams and hopes in the face of public hostility and private doubts.
While this is a historical day for America, America has not evolved to realize that the constitution mandates equal opportunity for all and that includes voting rights for all that the GOP is daily trying to circumvent by any means necessary.
While America has evolved but Judge Jackson’s confirmation hearing reminded the public that racism runs in the halls of congress and extends outward. America continually has issues with gender and race, two hundred plus years later.
In conclusion, 53–47 votes for Judge Jackson’s confirmation bespoke of how the 47 Republicans who voted against her nomination yet have an issue with a Black female sitting on the bench in spite of her being an extraordinarily qualified candidate.
