Stacey Abrams Georgia Needs a Political Do-Over
When it is broken, it must be fixed, time for a change, old blood for new blood.

Stacey Abrams believes everyone has the right to vote and those votes should not be tampered with or denied for the GOP political twisted gain.
In 2018, she ran for governor in Georgia and it was a close race but she did not demand a recount or call voters’ fraud. She graciously accepted the count for what it was even in the face of some indiscretions by the then Secretary of State.
Now the Democratic voting rights activist, Stacey Abrams, is seeking a rematch to beat GOP Gov. Kemp and knows she can win, due to the close race of the past. Abrams woke up the people and the voters to their reality in the hands of a biased GOP party.
Running for Governor made a huge statement not only to Georgia but to the Democrats, as her tenacity was instrumental in Biden being elected to the White House and the Democrats gained two seats in the U.S. Senate.
Her power waking up voters partly may have been one of the reasons the GOP across the country are putting in place many roadblocks for democratic voters to ensure them a cheating win. What happened to winning on principles and integrity? Guess, that is water under the bridge.
As all eyes have been perched on Stacey Abrams to note her next move has now become reality as she announced that she was launching another campaign for governor, making her the nation’s first Black woman governor when elected.
Even with the last gubernatorial race between Abrams, 48, and the incumbent Republican Gov. Brian Kemp was a close call and dominated by allegations of voter suppression but she accepted what was, as what is and moved on, but today is a new day.
Georgia going from the stronghold of the GOP, is on the table and Stacey Abrams is ready to sit at the table and leave with the entire menu filled with new choices for the betterment of the people and by the people.
During the 2020 election, Abrams proved that voting power works, and thereby Joe Biden life long dream became a reality due to much of her efforts and therefore Biden invested heavily in the state as he became the first Democratic presidential candidate who captured Georgia since 1992.
If all was an even playing field where everyone had the opportunity to vote based on their chosen candidates and their past and future agenda for the public, many GOP may have difficulty staying in power.
The GOP has proven to the people their agenda. While there are many who support their agenda for voter suppression, and systemic racism against all people of color to stay in power are doing what they can to retain the GOP in power. Today is a new day and demands a new way. Younger voters are not married to a party like many of the older voters. During the 2018 Georgia governor’s race, Stacey Abrams ran an unapologetic progressive 2018 race where she championed expanding Medicaid access, in the face of all the GOP governors’ disapproval and she supported abortion rights. Abrams is banking on the voters who gave her an almost defeat for the governor’s race in 2018 plus attracting new voters, recent transplants to the booming Atlanta areas, new Black voters, younger voter, and more liberal white voters. Her almost near-win was huge compared to previous Democrats who sought the office, she won 778,000 more than any had in previous times.
Although Abrams acknowledged Kemp as the victor, she was defiant citing “gross mismanagement” in his oversight of the election as secretary of state. Her claim was that he used his office to eliminate inactive voters, enforced an identity match for thousands of registrations in limbo, and passed other measures to tilt the outcome in his favor. Of course, Kemp denied any wrongdoing.
For Abrams, this is a new day where you not only keep your eyes on the prized but you also have checks and balances in place before the election, during the election, and after the election.
Across the Country, especially in Georgia, Florida, Texas, and Arizaona, the GOP has been working nonstop for years to overthrow elections and since Trump added his untruths, all have emerged out of the closest and now the world knows what is being dealt with as the GOP seek to deny people of color the right to vote.
Stacey Abrams is on the move more than ever before. After the governor’s election, she started the group, Fair Fight, which has raised more than $100 million and has registered hundreds of thousands of voters in Georgia. There was a record turnout for the 2020 election and January Senate runoffs.
Kemp no longer has the backing of the Godfather of election fraud and his backers, just may find himself hanging on a fence without a hand out to get him off because, after three recounts in Georgia’s presidential election, Kemp did not back Trump’s illegitimate claims. Trump was his supporter, now his most vocal critic. Trump even joked that he’d prefer Abrams to him. This was Trump’s way of expressing his disdain for Kemp. Even though Kemp pushed through restrictive voting rights for people of color as an appeasement to Trump, it didn’t hold water with Trump leaving him on his own recognizance.
It is time for Biden to step up to the plate and pass the John Lewis bill and the For the People Act. It is time for the Democrats to stop playing by yesterday’s rules they don’t work anyone, the opponents have a different agenda. Sometimes, you have to fight fire with fire. Looking the other way gives the victory to the enemy.
As usual, the GOP in Georgia is doing what they do best of late in the public eye, and that is cheating to win by any means necessary. Kemp has started a campaign called, “Stop Stacey” campaign and is finding any loopholes or lies to discredit Stacey Abrams. The GOP tried to blame Abrams for the Major League Baseball’s decision to pull the All-Star Game out of Atlanta last year over the backlash to the restrictive new voting law, even though Stacey Abrams repeatedly discouraged boycotts.
Name-calling has become the GOP badge of honor among themselves, the GOP has labeled Stacey Abrams as a hypocrite due to her criticizing Trump’s effort to steal the election and not concede to Biden, as she sported the evidence to back up her claim and positional statement.
Of the many influential Black women across the Country seeking statewide office, Abrams is the most prominent and has the knowledge, the following, and the power to back up her stance on every turn and be the best Governor Georgia has ever had.
Deidre DeJear announced her candidacy for the Democratic nomination for Iowa governor; in Florida, Democratic Rep. Val Demings is running for the Senate; In North Carolina, a former state Supreme Court Chief Justice Cheri Beasley is competing in the Democratic primary for Senate.
While Trump paid $750 in federal income taxes in 2016, making an issue with Stacey Abrams who during her 2018 campaign was found out to owe the IRS tax debt, included $54,000 in back taxes and was resolved in 2019, is not an issue but a ploy of distraction.
In conclusion, Kemp has had his chance to do right by all the people as governor and failed, now the time has come to elect a new governor who will govern for “All” the people and be governed by “All” the people. For additional reads:
