January Prompt: The Power of Influence
"We all have the power to influence others. It is up to us, whether we are going to abuse that power to manipulate people or use it to help them." — Abhijit Naskar.
Your life can influence others in many ways — positively or negatively.
I had many discussions with my family during the holiday based on our selected table topic. One was the power of influence after we watched "The Color Purple." We digested the movie's theme — the power of influence.
Examples of the power of influence:
- Many teachers and parents struggle to convince students to read for their own good, but some still choose not to read. However, when Oprah Winfrey recommended books, the books usually became best sellers.
- One of the passengers in a commuter bus was known for her infectious smile. And her fellow passengers fought each morning with one another because they wanted Ms. Smile to sit next to them.
- Many mothers tend to select friends for their young children based on what they know about them and their families. Why? Join the conversation below.
- Add Yours.
We can become who or what we spend most of our time with. People, things, and the environment influence us one way or another, even when we deny it.
Join the fun — write a short story about how influence is more important today. Share your experience if you desire or others' experiences, and leave a takeaway for your readers.
The story must be about three minutes; publish it before 01/28. Please tag this story.
Thank you for joining the fun.
