Happy New Year, everyone. I hope you had a wonderful 2022 and will have an even better 2023. We have 365 days ahead of us for living the life we love. Let’s make the best of it.

While countless New Year’s resolutions are being set I’d like to ask you for your plans for the new year. Specifically, your travel plans. Where are you going to fly to, which countries are on your wish list and maybe which trips have you planned already?

At Globetrotters, we are always looking for authentic travel reports with wonderful personal narratives and we’d like to start the year hearing what all your plans are and hopefully, later on, we will be hearing the first-hand experience of how those trips turned out and which destinations you did reach.

I am only days away from a big road trip exploring southern Africa a bit more. I am overly excited and can’t wait to see how it will turn out. This trip also has a long history and a bit of a background story.

In 2015, I arrived in Tanzania as a solo traveler and had 2 months to make my way down to Cape Town, South Africa. Along the way, I planned to travel down the east coast through Mozambique.

But how do things go when you’re a backpacker, I did make it to Cape Town and traveled through Tanzania, Zambia, Namibia, Botswana and in the end through South Africa but I never made it to Mozambique.

In 2023, eight years later, I am making a new attempt of reaching the country. I am no longer a solo traveler as I am married and will be traveling with David. I am also no longer a backpacker but a road-tripper. I won’t be staying in hostels, I’ll be camping all the way through.

However, the one thing that didn’t change is my passion for travel and the excitement for everything new that is ahead of me.

So here we go. Being currently based in Namibia, we will be starting at the Atlantic Ocean driving east while crossing Zambia and Zimbabwe until we reach the Indian Ocean in Mozambique. We have about 2 months for the trip and little else planned yet.

I did get inspired by a fellow Globetrotters writer to include Zambia in the trip. Ronald Smit has written about his adventures in the country. His articles are telling tales from a raw African adventure.

In the first one, he writes about a drive through the bush.

The second piece is about taking a walk in the capital, Lusaka.

But enough about me and my upcoming travel plans. Here at Globetrotters, we’re calling out for your stories. Tell us more about your travel plans for the new year.

My travel wish list for 2023.

Please share with us your stories. We’re looking for some personal narrative inspired by the beauty of the world ready to be explored. If you need some ideas, here we go:
