Dear Reader,

I hope your weekend looks sweet and sunny. We meet again today in this new edition of your favorite newsletter with a crunchy announcement that should please you. The suspense is already almost over since you probably noticed the subtitle, but you’ll see, it’s great!

Today, after a long waiting period — you know me, I like to do things right so I take my time — I am very happy to introduce a new writing challenge in partnership with the very famous and adorable Bear!

No, I haven’t lost my mind, the bear in question is none other than my favorite writing app for which I declared my love in one of my recent stories. Bear is where I prepared this writing challenge and where I am writing the preface to Scribe’s first book of poetry to be published in September.

To tell you the truth, I write everything with the app, it is so pretty and pleasant to use. For example, I really like the fact that you can easily manage your notes and writing projects by tags and sub-tags. Bear is free to use, and the Pro version allows a lot of cool features like different themes, exporting in several formats, and synchronization between all your devices. You can visit the Bear blog to discover the many features in detail.

So, as I never do things by halves, I wrote a message to my beloved Bear to tell him about Scribe, our wonderful community, and writing. He answered me, moreover with a lot of enthusiasm. And today is the big day!

Let’s get to the heart of the matter. In order to participate in this new writing prompt, you need to give a little help to Scribe and Bear, like this: subscribe to Scribe’s newsletter and follow Bear on Twitter, follow me on Medium, and finally share this newsletter on Twitter by announcing your participation in the challenge and mentioning Bear and me in your tweet. If you don’t have Twitter, share this challenge on your favorite network, the main thing is to make the writing prompt known around you!

The prompt: Write a story between 600 and 1700 words, choosing one of these two propositions:

Proposition 1 (essay): If you had a year free in front of you to write your first novel, what place would you choose to retreat to and write? Tell us how you would like to spend those long months writing your most beautiful story!

Proposition 2 (fiction): Imagine a story based on this information: Miia is a seven-year-old girl who lives with her parents in a house deep in the forest. She is never separated from her little teddy bear to whom she confides all her thoughts.

You have until June 13 to enter and submit your story to Scribe. I’ll be publishing the best ones until the results of the challenge are announced in the June 20th newsletter, where five of them will be offered a one-year subscription to Bear!

When you submit your piece, just specify “Writing prompt with Bear” as the subtitle so I know it’s your entry. I hope the suggestions will inspire you over the next few weeks.

The bear and I look forward to reading your stories! 🐻🍃

This week, Fọlábòmí Àmọ̀ó was the featured writer in the column and I hope you enjoyed reading his poems. Here are five in case you missed it: The Darkness. Colours of the Heart (II). Raindrops. Moments. Peace.

Starting today, I am very happy to shed light on a writer who chose Scribe as her first publication on Medium, with a beautiful first poem, Grass in the Meadow. Go say hello and support Danielle Smith! We should have the chance to read her next poem very soon!

On my side, I watched a concert and a memory came back: Catherine.

Thank you again for being here, and keep writing! ♥︎
