It’s Been Officially Confirmed That the Wolverine and Spider-Man Games Are in the Same Universe
Spider-Man 2’s senior creative director has confirmed that these two video game heroes share a universe.

So, in some of my past chats, I’ve chatted about all sorts of Spider-Man stuff. You can find the links to those at the end of this post.
But today, let’s dive into the super cool news that the new Wolverine game and the Spider-Man games are totally sharing the same universe!
It’s been a solid two years since we all got wind of the exciting announcement about Insomniac Marvel’s Wolverine. Ever since then, our minds have been racing with the same big question: are Spider-Man and Wolverine sharing the same action-packed universe?
Well, hold onto your web shooters and adamantium claws because we’ve finally got some answers, and it’s a resounding “yes!”
The juicy scoop comes straight from an interview over at Kinda Funny Games. In this no-holds-barred chat, the senior creative director of Spider-Man 2, Bryan Intihar, spilled the beans.
He confirmed that Spidey, Wolverine, and their fellow heroes are indeed cohabiting in a shared gaming universe, and it’s got the designation 1048. You heard it right, folks!
Now, if you’re a bit fuzzy on the whole multiverse thing, don’t sweat it. Marvel is famous for jumping between universes like a kangaroo on a sugar rush. It’s like having a stack of comic books, and each one is its own alternate reality.
For instance, 616 is where the main comic book series unfolds, while the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is set in universe 199999. It’s all about keeping things spicy with some dimension-hopping shenanigans.
During the same interview, Intihar let us in on another secret. He revealed that they made a deliberate call not to sneak in any Wolverine Easter Eggs in the Spider-Man games. Why, you ask? Well, they wanted to give their hardworking team full creative freedom to focus on our friendly neighborhood web-slinger.
As Intihar put it:
“I’m just trying to learn how to make Spider-Man or try to get Spider-Man off the ground. While there’s another Marvel thing I’m trying to get.
I think for us, it’s a ‘let’s just let that team cook, you know, let them cook, and let them make the game they want to make.”
Final Words
But hey, we’re all Marvel fans here, right? We can’t resist a little speculation and chatter.
So, even though there’s not much intel out there about Marvel’s Wolverine, one thing we do know is that it’s PlayStation 5 exclusive. And, boy, are we itching to know more about it!
