It’s All About Love…Starting with Ourselves
And spreading out from there: Happy Valentine’s Day
Happy Valentine’s Day, Sisters and Brothers!
Love is in the air this time of year.
Or at least in the rows upon rows of candy, flowers, and chocolate blooming on store shelves for our purchasing pleasure.
Yes, we can buy the accouterments of love, thanks to Hallmark and Godiva, but love is not a commodity.
It may not even be a thing.
Chances are, its best form is a verb. A kind and loving action. Saying hi to the lonely man at the bus stop. Giving our bodies the fuel and exercise they need to survive and thrive. Reading a bedtime story to a child, or volunteering in a literacy program so one more parent can read a bedtime story to their child.
All of this and so much more say love. And actions shout while words whisper.
But don’t not whisper. Or shout. I love you and we love you, in every way we can. And don’t forget, I love me, and you love you, while we’re at it.
So important are those words to ourselves above all. Please remind me when I forget.
