SELF-IMPROVEMENT
It’s a Bountiful Harvest
Day 18, 50 questions for deep self-reflection
This is day 18 of the 50 Questions for Deep Self-Reflection challenge from Know Thyself Heal Thyself created by Diana C.
DAY EIGHTEEN: How can you harvest love, good energy and meaningful connections?
It’s all about the harvest
Oh, this is one of those warm, fuzzy questions. I love the word harvest because in my perception it suggests that I can harvest these amazing things from something I’ve already set to growing — which I have. I’ve worked hard (run the mental marathons) for many years to grow a bountiful crop. So, yes, I love this question because it’s asking how can I now harvest everything I’ve worked so hard to create in a way that I can now share that with others without depleting my own field!
How key is that last part?
The answer is right there
How can I harvest love, good energy, and meaningful connections?
The answer is in the question. The answer, at least for me, is in that very meaningful word, harvest. For it is only by building those things for self that there is enough to harvest to share with others without depleting our own fields.
Let’s follow through with the metaphor for a moment.
A farmer plants a crop. It takes time. It must be watered. They must do the work for those crops to bud. And then there is more work to help those crops flourish. They need nourishment, attention, and time. Dare I say they need love, good energy, and connection?
When the farmer sees the fruits of their labour, a healthy, thriving crop, they don’t rip it out and give it to their neighbour and start again. If they did, they would have to start from scratch and do all the work again without any real benefit. But, if they wait until the crop has really ‘taken root’ and established itself, they can begin to harvest.
But, they don’t harvest everything and give it away. First, they are going to take what they need. Then they are going to share what remains. And, they are going to ensure the establishment of the crop is still firm so that they do not need to go back to step one. They simply continue to nourish the field and harvest. And nourish and harvest.
Likewise, when we do the work and harvest for ourselves first, we can then share with others without depleting our own emotional resources.
Wrapping it up
How can I harvest love, good energy, and meaningful connections?
It’s what I’ve said all throughout this daily challenge so far — by giving those things to me first, only then can I give them to others. How? By knowing that the work I’ve already done has established my mental and emotional connection to self — that’s my crop.
