To score some points, hubby took me to go see his mentor in another part of town. Other than the lovely personalities we encountered and the conversations we had, there wasn’t much. It Was a Holiday After All

“The best things in life are the people we love, the places we’ve been, and all the memories we’ve made along the way.” — Unknown

It didn’t start out as a holiday. Mostly, I had recovered from my surgery. So it made sense that I could hop on a plane. My destination was a city in Southeastern Nigeria. I had gotten married a few weeks before the surgery and so had not spent a good time with hubby. He had rushed back to work shortly after the wedding.

It was time to start marital life. Somewhere along planning the trip, we decided on doing Airbnb. I did the honors; looked at pictures, reviews, and costing then settled on a place. Hubby did a pre-visit and said it was okay. I had few expectations.

Hubby organized an airport pickup for me. The driver and I chatted about life, prospects, business ventures, traveling abroad, who was the right candidate and who wasn’t. I drove the conversation. He wasn’t as talkative. It was a shorter ride than expected. We arrived at the residence. I asked for a refresher on the house rules. They took my luggage to my room. I took it in. The pictures were better than reality. Other than that, I knew I would function. I settled in.

Shortly after, hubby came in with some shopping he had done earlier. We chatted and joked. He took a shower. We made out then watched some movies.

Activities

I had envisioned a time with hubby filled with cooking. Yes, cooking is a hobby for me and hubby loves proper meals. That’s how it turned out. I didn’t mind. The house was comfy, so going out made little sense. Besides, we lived in the middle of a market, so getting foodstuff was easy. Hubby then told me that social activities in his city revolved a lot around eating and drinking. This was in another part of town and was mostly at night. Anyway, we stayed home a whole lot. We slept, laughed, argued, jabbed each other, made fun, made love, cooked, ate, watched movies, visited the market, a bank, and a worship center. I didn’t realize when 8 days came and then I realized I had just been on a holiday.
