Is the Summer Slump Affecting Your Views?

Tips and thoughts on how to how to ride the waves🌊

nakaridore

I’m noticing a strange trend in my stats.

Usually, I do pretty okay with views — read more on how I do it 👇

But recently I’ve observed a dip in views.

Looking back over the articles published over the course of the year, I see this change started in April of this year.

Should it be cause for concern?

There are different opinions regarding this out there like this 👉 “Much like many of us take vacations, scale back on projects, and leave our brains behind at the beach, blog traffic in the summer time is known to take a hit…I want you to know this is not your fault, just a natural phenomenon that happens to most bloggers” — Cyn (creator)

  • Many writers/readers (myself included) are traveling or away on vacations.
  • Summer is a time of reduced productivity with regard to work as the focus is more on leisure activities.
  • Less time spent on devices.

4 actionable steps:

  • Create content geared for the season like this — in my case this post is geared for summer👇🎉
  • Post more often: The gurus say post more often and that way you can and I see a lot of writers doing this — however, if I were to be brutally honest I would say that most of the content is subpar, same old boring, recycled stuff churned out solely for the sake of hitting publish and getting it over with.

Having said this, I also acknowledge writers like Carmellita who publish everyday and have also set the bar high with the quality of her content, range of her topics, helpful insights and careful research.

  • Diversify: Have you traded in stocks? Then you may be familiar with the saying — “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.” I know it is not easy to write on multiple different platforms or juggle writing projects for x,y,z reasons but if you want income coming in from writing then you have to diversify.

💲I easily made 4 figures last month because I diversified my writing💲👇

  • Create more evergreen content: So what is evergreen content? Creator, Cyn, describes evergreen content as follows: “This type of content favours no particular season, holiday or time of year….this content is relevant all year round, meaning people can and will search for topics like these throughout the year.” Perhaps something like this one 👇

Just like a flower, you can’t bloom all year round. It just doesn’t happen! There are periods of dormancy, growth and blooming. Think of the summer as a time of dormancy and growth — no blooms in site, maybe a few seeds and stems. Use this time to remain consistent, lock down your blogging strategies, and make plans for the fall! — Cyn

What are your thoughts ? I’d love to hear ‘em!
