I get this content repurposing question over and over…
Is Content Repurposing Really Dangerous Duplicate Content?
The profitable truth revealed…

The question of Duplicate Content just won’t go away! Will you be shut down by Google?
Duplicate Content is a scary phrase. It’s almost like Google is going to come KNOCK ON YOUR DOOR! and confiscate your computer…
So here’s the definitive answer to the burdensome question of Duplicate Content vs Content Repurposing, once and for all.

I’ve been teaching content creation and content repurposing online for 15 years. And every week of those 15 years someone has asked the question about Duplicate Content.
Let’s take a closer look at the profitable difference between Duplicate Content and Content Repurposing.
Here’s Duplicate Content!
Duplicate Content is a black hat strategy designed to game the system. Duplicate Content is trying to unfairly multiple the “Google Juice” and traffic from a piece of content that does well online.
Here’s an example:
Let’s say you create an article that goes viral. You can find it on the first page and maybe even ranked number one for your keywords on Google.
This, by itself, is a good thing.
It becomes Duplicate Content if you then post that article on numerous places on your website or blog. The thinking goes like this:
“Well, if I got great traffic from having this article on my blog once, let’s put it on my blog in 2 different places. What about 10 different places? 25? 50? Or even 100?”
That’s Duplicate Content! It’s what Google is looking for and it’s what Google will penalize you for — heavily.
Here’s Content Repurposing!
My buddy Al Einstein once said:
“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”
Content Repurposing is a white hat strategy that I like to call “hyper-sanity.”
Content Repurposing is using the same thing over and over, in different places and in different forms, to work smarter instead of harder and get great results.
Here’s an example:
Let’s take that same article you created above that went viral and is driving a great amount of traffic to your blog.
There’s 2 ways you can apply the power of Content Repurposing:
Content Repurposing 1: After it’s been on your blog, you can now post that same article, with or without a few changes, to other sites like Medium, LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, etc. You can discover more about this kind of Content Repurposing here and also here.
This can multiply your traffic very quickly. It’s a great example of working smarter instead of harder.
Content Repurposing 2: The second way to repurpose your content is to turn your content into multiple products and resources. If fact, in my model of Direct Response Content Marketing, when you are creating your content you are also creating your products and resources.
In this way, you never have to stare at a blank screen when you sit down to create a product or resource. You can discover more about 7 ways to turn your content into cash here.
So now that you know the difference between Duplicate Content and Content Repurposing, it’s time to get your Content Repurposing on!
And speaking of repurposing, here’s a story about repurposing my entire business and my entire life at 47:
