Introducing Pene Hodge
Mother, lover, thinker, dreamer, nurse, teacher, writer

I was born in Guyana, South America. As many first-borns are wont to do, I grew up as an avid reader and a shy thinker. I did not use my words much back then.
Now it’s hard to shut me up!
I arrived in New York one cold February day more than three decades ago and have made my mark in this new land.
Work-life
I underwrote mortgages for several years then in 1997 I became ill and needed heart surgery. I was born with a congenital defect (writings to come later).
While recuperating my dream of “helping” others was born and I went on to become a nurse.
I do some of my best work in the Emergency Room.
Hobbies
Did I mention, I love to read! Music is a close second — God I love to dance. Jigsaw puzzles, I usually order 3,000 pieces and you can’t pry me away! I enjoy crossword puzzles as well as watching things grow and enjoying the things God created.
A writer awakens
I had always dreamed of being a writer. I felt I have so much to say!
For many years I thought of blogging but was unsure how to go about it. With work, home, and kids the dream kept being deferred. In 2019 I took the leap and started my blog and my inner writer came out of hibernation.
I have been so happy to have a platform to put my thoughts onto that I spend most of my free time here either writing or reading. There are so many great writers on this platform that I get lost for hours.
My work as a nurse influences my writing and I write on health and science, personal essays, or whatever God lays on the heart on a given day!
Illumination/Medium is my happy place, where I hope to grow and continue to feel at home.
Thank you for accepting me into your family!!
Here is a list of some of my work, please feel free to check it out and interact! I promise I do not bite! @https://twitter.com/justpene50https:/ and meddle @/www.quora.com/profile/Pene-Hodge
Many thanks to Dr. Mehmet Yildiz for his foresight in creating Illumination/s. I appreciate the Publication’s environment of inclusiveness and I look forward to more sharing in the future.
