Insomnia

Caroline had barely slept in seventeen days…

This drabble (100-word story) is a response to Crush Hundo Edition’s word prompt. Today’s word is SYMMETRY.

Caroline rolled over in bed and checked the time on her phone. It had been seventeen days in a row now that she’d woken up at exactly three in the morning. She felt another headache coming on and she rubbed her temples.

There was an eerie symmetry happening between her life and that of the main character in the book she was reading. He had insomnia for an entire year and he began to slowly lose his mind.

It was a simple case of transference. There were no other explanations. Caroline didn’t believe in mystical things. They simply didn’t exist.

This 22nd drabble is written as part of the “100 Story Challenge” by @Zane Dickens.

Thank you for reading my drabble. I’d love to hear your responses.
