Summary

The web content is a poetic reflection on the nature of silence and the search for one's voice amidst the absence of echoes and acknowledgment.

Abstract

The poem titled "LISTEN" delves into the existential questions that arise when one's cries go unheard and unanswered. It paints a picture of a speaker whose fierce cries are absorbed by the void, leaving no trace or reflection. The speaker contemplates the stillness that follows, questioning the effectiveness of their own voice and whether it has failed to meet the conditions necessary to create waves or resonate with others. The silence is personified as a force that hides the speaker's bounce and direction, with empty footsteps that do not repeat, emphasizing the solitude and anticipation for a response that never comes. The poem concludes with the speaker standing statuesque, building an active SONAR in the silence, expressing gratitude for the reader's attention, which may be the only echo returned.

Opinions

  • The poem conveys a sense of isolation and the struggle to be heard in a world that seems to absorb one's efforts without reaction.
  • There is an introspective tone, as the speaker questions their own effectiveness as a source of sound or ideas, wondering if they have failed to create an impact.
  • The silence is portrayed not just as an absence of sound but as an active presence that conceals and stills the speaker's attempts at self-expression.
  • The speaker's gratitude towards the reader suggests a yearning for connection and acknowledgment, which is a central theme of the poem.
  • The use of SONAR as a metaphor indicates a proactive search for feedback or validation, despite the overwhelming silence.

POEM: LISTEN

In the Silence, Before the Echo

Where do your cries go?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

In the hollow chambers, my screams are dropped

One after another, fierce cries are thrown but vanish

No more destination to meet them or play catch

Even high or deep, absorbed where they fell

Words that no longer rise stretched flat

But where has my reflection gone

Does my mind play tricks but no treats

Were there waves in my clamor and roars

Did I fail as a source to meet the conditions

Silence hides my bounce and direction

Empty footsteps reach but don’t repeat

Still listening for the arrival of my echo

Statuesque in silence, building my active SONAR

I thank you for your attention to my poem through the silence.
