In Stars, She Believed

Photo by Julian Paolo Dayag on Unsplash

Light as a feather she used to tread, Singing ballads of romances she had read. She lived across the boy with the ginger head, If only she knew how he looked upon her stead.

Each day her’s to conquest, She searched for love, across the border to the west. The world was her cocoon, In stars, she believed.

Then happened the chanced encounter, The boy from across didn’t seem so strange anymore. As she swung underneath the beautiful banyan tree, He gently pushed her from behind, with a heart full of glee.

Years passed with memories abundant of stolen kisses, Letters once exchanged, became memoirs for the life once lived. 50 years hence as he stood upon her grave, He touched the wedding bands they had once exchanged.

He thanked her for the life they had lived, And bid adieu to the light, that she once was. With tears rolling down, he told the world… In stars, she believed.
