Dear readers, writers, editors, bloggers, and YouTubers,

I joined Medium a month ago as invited by Dr Mehmet Yildiz, who mentors me to become a writer and blogger.

As advised by my lecturers in the film and media school, I offered my support to help the Illumination YouTube channel to practice my media and design skills by adding value to the writers of Illumination Integrated Publications on Medium.

When I joined the Illumination Slack workspace, I was overwhelmed by warm welcome messages from the members. It is an absolute pleasure and honor.

As I offered my service to create videos featuring the writers of this publication, I have already received over 100 requests. I started producing two to three videos in a week in my free time as I have full-time work and part-time study.

Initially, I did not know anything about Medium. When I joined the platform, I could read only two stories a day.

However, Dr Yildiz sent me friend links to his informative articles to get me started. He also encouraged me to post articles. So far, I have posted only three pieces, but my profile gained 85 followers, to my surprise. I am grateful for this support.

It is incredible to see so many great writers on Medium. Some content inspired me. So rather than depending on friend links, I decided to upgrade my account and become a member.

It is only $5 a month. Interestingly, this equates to the cost of a Red Bull in my country, Australia. Admittedly, I consume one Red Bull in the mornings before designing my YouTube videos. This caffeinated drink energizes me and increases my creativity in the mornings.

So, I am delighted to become a member of this global community which allows me now to read a limitless number of stories. I look forward to exploring more writers.

As Dr Yildiz advised me, my goal is to engage meaningfully with other writers and improve my writing and blogging skills while contributing to the community with my media skills.

My next goal is to join the writing challenges offered to Illumination writers. I will start with these three challenges.
