I’m Not Sorry
You’re too toxic

This constant feeling perpetuating It is slowly decaying my lost mind Insolent remarks are devastating Most people ask how I could be so blind Our views were constantly not aligned To say the least we should’ve not been friends Today is the day when this friendship ends I am not sorry for things that you’ve said All of this time you’re the one who pretends It’s time you get the fuck out of my head
This is a dizain poem in the format of ABABBCCDCD with ten-syllables per line. I want to give a shout out to Marcus for teaching me this format. You can find his excellent poem below.
I had who I considered to be a friend recently tell me that I was cruel for not having the savings that she felt I should have to raise my children with. I balled for days and even apologized to her because we had not been talking for a few days.
I should’ve seen the relationship was doomed to fail from the very beginning. We had starkly different views and she would always throw little jabs at me. In the beginning I blamed it on our cultural differences and so the relationship continued much longer than it should have.
Oh, how I was blind. She became pushy and aggressive after I apologized for her being brutal to me. That was my last straw. I could no longer see a future with her in it. In any culture that would be considered rude.
I was inspired to write this after reading Ali’s post titled I Refuse To Say Those Words Unless It Is Warranted. She speaks about how she will no longer apologize for being who she is and to stop blaming herself for other people’s actions. You can find her wonderful work below.
