SELF-IMPROVEMENT
I’m Happy that I Know Nothing
Day 32, 50 questions for deep self-reflection
This is day 31 of the 50 Questions for Deep Self-Reflection challenge from Know Thyself Heal Thyself created by Diana C.
DAY THIRTY-TWO: What if no one else knows what they’re doing either?
It’s not even a question
I love this question. But at the same time, it’s not really much of a question. It’s really just a statement because let’s face it, no one knows what they’re doing. Sure, we may have some idea what we are doing when it comes to purposeful action, but what has that got to do with anything, really? Does anyone know what they are doing in this thing called life? I’m about to share why I hope they don’t. There is no, “What if?” about this question at all.
But, the, “What if?” aspect does make me consider how I could possible expect myself to know what I’m doing when I already know that nobody, anywhere, knows what they’re doing. I mean, how can they? In this thing we call life, many people can believe they know what happens after it but how can we truly know until we cross that threshold? Many will argue that faith and belief tells them, and that’s fine, but even the strongest faith is still based on learned information. It’s still a creation that’s been handed down.
The perception of knowing
It kind of goes back to what I’ve said the whole way through these challenges and that is that everything is perception. I feel the most dangerous perception to have in this world is that we have all the answers. It’s dangerous for a few reasons.
- In that belief of knowing all, we disallow any experience that doesn’t agree with us, which automatically disallows unconditional love.
- Believing we have all the answers and we know everything disallows our own growth because there is nothing left to learn and there is no growth needed. If you’ve already reached the pinnacle, wouldn’t that make the experience of life boring because what is there to do if not grow and learn?
- Believing we know everything and have all the answers means that we don’t allow for any other possibility and to disallow anything is to close ourselves from the most amazing opportunities and potentials.
I’m proud to know nothing
I think I like knowing that I know nothing because in knowing nothing I have so much available to me that I can never be bored. I can never be lonely. I can never be done.
I don’t know what I’m doing. I have no idea. And isn’t that amazing?
It’s a gift to myself to acknowledge that I have no idea what I’m doing and if nobody else knows what they’re doing, then that makes me really excited for the future.
What if I’m right — not that I know anything
What if everything I just wrote (my perception of the answer to this very interesting question) was at least somewhat accurate? What if, no-body knew what they were doing? What does that mean for you? What does it allow for you? Do you know what you are doing and are you okay with that?
