Self-Improvement
Illuminating a Goldmine of Resources for Self-Improvement and Better Writing
Resources are available right in front of you

Mankind has been obsessed with gold for the longest time. The yellow metal has had such an appeal to our psyche that it has never left our line of sight for 6 millennia. Gold was, is, and will be the purest form of money existing alongside Humans until hostile aliens from Mars come and steal them from us.
Gold is mystical. Gold is beautiful.
I am not so sure about goldmines.
The reputation of holes we extract gold from suffers from a terrible reputation. Mark Twain has this to say about goldmines: -
“The definition of a gold mine is a hole in the ground with a liar standing at the top of the hole because there’s just so many of them.”
Lesson here?
Avoid going too near to a hole.
You will be mistaken as a liar.
ILLUMINATION is not a hole in the ground.
No liars are standing on top of a hole screaming at the top of their lungs.
My fellow editors at Illumination are too busy meeting writers’ expectations, delivering value by publishing stories at our fastest possible turnaround time.
That said, Illumination is a hub containing resources for writers investing their time and effort to write better stories.
Stories written by editors get Chosen for Further Distribution every hour of the day. It says a lot about the materials we produce. I believe these materials can be used by writers to facilitate self-improvement for better writing.
First off, Liam Ireland oozes cynicism in his writing. If you want to learn how to be a personality exhibitionist through words — Read his stories.
I recommend reading In the Pursuit of Happiness.
“We are bonded by our misery, and that makes me very happy. I am happy to be unhappy because that makes me normal. I am not alone. And now I feel connected with the world through misery, the question is, do I continue in this way, or do I strive to be happy and abnormal. It’s a tough choice. I need time to think this through. I really am not sure if could handle being happy, that would mean having to give up my crutches, and I do love roasted coffee, hot buttered toast and a whiff or two of tobacco first thing in the morning.”
Liam writes a lot about the philosophy of life, and you will be charmed by his writing.

Dr Preeti Singh writes a lot about a lot.
I enjoy reading her love stories. Her interpretation of love goes beyond the human race. It is her expression of being in the universe.
“For me, sexual desire is very important, but it is not the only thing… Love is a romance with life between two like-minded people. To be joyful and to combat challenges together… If you find romance, then life is meaningful.”
Dr Preeti dives deep into the meaning of life, injecting depth into the definition of love.
She believes that love goes beyond sexual attraction and physical appeal. The meaning of love changes as life experiences accumulate.
Her stories are good references if you aspire to write with depth and meaning.

I have to recommend Maria Rattray.
She is a quiet worker, silently clearing stories for writers at a corner without making a sigh, sneeze, fart, or cough.
You have to walk the grounds to see how hardworking she is.
And her stories are superb.
Maria writes to question conventional norms, and she sees what I see. The world has gone mad, and it is time we pull back from our normalized insanity.
“Imagine an industry whose raison d’etre (reason for existing), is copying, copying other people’s work in this case, their fashion designs, altering them a little, and moving the designs quickly, for fast fashion.”
I agree with her. We have to reclaim our sanity.
If you aspire to write stories that provoke critical thinking, you have to follow Maria Rattray.

Your perspectives will determine whether Illumination is a hole in the ground or a goldmine.
There is no need to rush to a premature conclusion. Take your time and read the stories that are published by our editors.
You will realize that this goldmine does contain gold.
