Unlike your Non-Human Bots, @theBingJiang is real and human.

If you DON’T learn from mistakes, why KEEP making them, Medium?

If you make a mistake once, the important thing is not to repeat it and change the verification system to distinguish between real and non-real entities.

As a company, it’s essential to do things right (not easy, but it shows if the intention is genuine).

But having a bot as a system to track and accuse who is real and who is not, first harming the individual, doesn’t seem appropriate for a fairly established company.

Behind this screen and keyboard, we are all humans and users of a platform that used to treat us better, now it only burdens us with the irony of artificial intelligence deciding who is real and who is not.

Bin Jiang is a person, dedicated and successful within this platform.

In December, he began to have resounding success and, above all, a hunger to inspire his entire audience, and that’s what he has been doing.

Updated: Just minutes after publishing this article, I noticed that Bin has returned. So, I invite you to welcome him back along with his latest article.

Bin JiangI Was Suspended For About 2 Hours Today

However, it seems that you don’t learn, your excuses are not helpful. It’s not even about making mistakes, as we all can (we’re human), but about intention, and I think you could proceed at least with more respect. Why do I say you could do it with more respect?

Because as humans, we deserve humane treatment, not an artificial intelligence that only cares about our behaviors and interests within a platform.

I will continue after promoting wonderful people.

I take this opportunity to welcome you. You have come back stronger than ever, but it’s happening again.

Let’s make some noise so that the same thing doesn’t happen to innocent people.

There was already a great purge, most of which was a mistake, and they got their accounts back. But at the same time, they made most of my professional colleagues feel like it’s not worth being treated like this.

  • Guilty until proven innocent.
  • Presumption of innocence first and showing evidence of the alleged infringement.
  • Apologizing in case of an error, something that hasn’t been done in most cases.
  • And getting rid of fake or questionable reputation accounts.

And forgive me for saying this, but a bot with programmable commands is not capable of doing that, and I hope it never will be.

We deserve to be treated better.

In essence, it’s not that difficult, it’s more about having a real intention. So for this reason, I am going to propose possible solutions and ideas.

Getting rid of fraudulent accounts.

Option 1

In my opinion, it should be necessary to pay the membership fee (heart or star) to be able to write comments within the platform. And anyone who dares to do something improper, bye-bye, account canceled.

  • Instead of trying to scam, they should have studied.

Option 2

Having the Medium Partner Program activated to comment, as well as having entered your national identity number, and if you try to do something unethical, bye-bye. I highly doubt that someone who spends all day on this platform writing and interacting with other platform friends would want to misbehave.

  • Since they are people who strive to improve and grow every day.

What not to do?

Using a bot that shoots first and asks questions later.

Do I have to say this?

  • Well, apparently, yes.

I already said it in another post; artificial intelligence should only and exclusively help us in tasks, but not make its own decisions. What I mean is that it should be used in any case to track users, and when the warning comes up, your duty would be to review and then respond appropriately.

But it is a human who makes the decision, never the other way around. You have acted in this way with many legitimate writers who are real, and you haven’t apologized to each one of them, who in a way have been attacked in their honor.

And don’t bite the hand that feeds you.

Those who know me know that I don’t criticize, in fact, this is not a criticism. But it’s time to put reality on the table, expose the flaws, and propose effective solutions for possible study.

Every business is based on its financing model, and Medium, unlike YouTube, has no advertising. That means we users, who are also people, writers, readers, are their source of financing, customers first and foremost.

And now I’m going to propose something I’ve been thinking about.

Friend of Medium has been a complete success, in my view. A way to generate more funds when increasing payments to all users. And help improve the sustainability of this platform.

And that’s why I think this is the right direction.

I would personally incorporate two more packages

Super Friend Of Medium, at a cost of $50, but with more associated benefits and a monthly joining limit.

Imagine joining this new feature in which, by accessing it, you have more interactions because the main page has a main tab next to “for you” and “following”; in which only all the people who join this new membership appear.

All Super Friends of Medium provide more money to people who are used to reading (that’s the idea).

And as such, they should also have advantages associated with this type of membership. To access, the only requirement is to have billed at least $500 the previous month. This is important so that there are no unethical intentions on the part of users, you understand me.

And the other function would be to be able to recharge the membership as a fund.

Since when you have read 50 articles, there is no money left.

And this way, you can manually recharge to ensure that the people you like to read the most are rewarded. And the good thing about this feature is that each user’s membership part destined for reading becomes available, as well as the active benefit to all those who recharge.

People who recharge generate unlockable and quantifiable milestones and may receive bonuses for being a fundamental part of a successful model.

More money invested, yes, but also more benefits for everyone.

My final conclusions.

  • Bin is human and an incredible writer.
  • Artificial intelligence will detect unreliable users and notify a human to review whether the account continues or is canceled.
  • Medium should prioritize human interaction and respect for its users to maintain trust and integrity.
  • Implementing effective measures against fraudulent accounts is vital for platform sustainability and user satisfaction.
  • The success of the Friend of Medium program suggests potential for further innovative solutions to enhance user experience and support platform sustainability.
  • Introducing additional membership tiers, like the Super Friend of Medium, could offer more benefits and incentives for users while aiding the platform’s financial stability.
  • Manual review processes and user engagement metrics should ensure fairness and transparency in account management.
  • Medium’s future success depends on balancing technological advancement with human-centered values, fostering a supportive and inclusive community for writers and readers alike.

I’m addressing Medium now, and I understand that making decisions might not be easy, but please seriously consider whether you want a better Medium. Being CEO of a company is pointless without experiencing being a customer who wants to be treated well.

In other words, a happy customer equals a happy company.
