If We Were Having Coffee…
For the third week of March
If we were having coffee, I’d invite you into my cozy living room. The weather here has turned cold again and we’ve had to break out the heaters. It is another cloudy day here in T-Town, Oklahoma and we may get more rain. This is feeling like a never-ending winter.
I’d offer you some Italian espresso and some sweet, creamy cannolis from a local bakery here. They are scrumptious! I had my first cannoli in New York City at an Italian restaurant back in the late 90s. I thought I would never find a place outside NYC that made them as good as that restaurant, but these… OMGoodness!
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you about how concerned I am with my upcoming Neurologist appointment. I fear that since the MRI came back okay that the doctor won’t continue to work with me regarding the migraines. He has already referred me to a rheumatologist because of the blood work I had done a bit ago. He thinks I may have Lupus, but it will take more blood work and a diagnosis from the rheumatologist to confirm it. Does that have anything to do with the migraines though? I honestly don’t know. The migraines aren’t as frequent now since I’ve been taking the Amitriptyline when I go to sleep. However, the ones I do have are still very intense.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you how excited I am with the progress toward my book of poetry. jules has been working on it and has shown me some of the pages and I am just thrilled with how it is coming along. I really want to learn how to do this myself because I’d like to do other books eventually too. One on flash fiction and another on more of my poetry. Or, maybe I can work out a payment plan with Jules and get her to publish them under her own banner. *blinks innocently at jules*
Regardless, it will just be a dream come true to see my name on a book of poetry and be able to share my work with whomever wants to read it. I already have a list of people I want to give a copy to as a gift.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you about all the wonderful work I have been reading on Medium this month. I try to read work from PW first, then the other publications I write for. I am always behind in my reading though. I keep telling myself to take just one day to do nothing but reading. It never quite works out that way. But I do want to share with you those stories and I have them gathered in a list titled March Winds.
It never ceases to amaze me how many excellent writers there are here on Medium. And I am humbled and honored that so many of these great writers trust me and my editorial team to publish their work in PW. This too is a dream come true for me.
If we were having coffee, I’d also share some of my favorite pieces that I published of my own work this past week. I’ve been dabbling more with fiction because I do love writing it. Here are a couple for your reading pleasure and an art piece:
If we were having coffee, I’d make us some fresh espresso and then sit and listen to whatever you have to share from your past week.
Once our coffee is drank and our cannolis are eaten, I’d thank you for the lovely chat and apologize for how boring I am this week. I am still dealing with a cold and haven’t really been as active as I’d like. As I walk you to the door, I’d offer you some cannolis to take home with you. Please do be safe out there on your trip home. If you blink in Oklahoma, the weather changes. See you again soon for another lovely chat!
If we were having coffee… is a fun write-up that I used to do with other writers on WordPress years ago. If you’d like to join in, please feel free to borrow this and use it on your own blogs. Just tag me so I can come read! You can also leave me a comment and let me know how your third week of March went. See you again soon!
