Life At The Old Homestead
A Drabble (100-word story)
Spring changed everything. It always did. No longer bound to home and hearth, cuddled in our beds with winter howling outside or it’s chilled breath nipping at our toes.
Spring meant sunny, relaxed days outdoors. Children playing in the fields. The planting of gardens. Watching the wildlife return to the trees, the fields, the forest close by our home.
Spring changed moods too. Happiness fluttered in the breeze along with the laundry. Laughter rang through the house and out opened windows.
Spring meant wildflowers for our hair. Dances at McGrubber’s barn. Romance in the air. And wedding bells come June.
