Summary

Fahri Karakas discusses the creation of his doodle magazine "Fahri’s Doodles" in Part 5, focusing on embracing non-linear and exponential living in today's rapidly changing technological landscape.

Abstract

In the fifth installment of his ongoing series, Fahri Karakas delves into the concept of "Living Exponentially" as part of his journey in producing "Fahri’s Doodles," a doodle magazine. He emphasizes the importance of adapting to non-linear and exponential change, suggesting that the future's progress will be equivalent to 20,000 years of advancement. Karakas encourages readers to abandon linear expectations, develop resilience, creativity, and adaptability, and outlines a roadmap for embracing uncertainty and exponential growth. He motivates individuals to create value using new technologies, proposes exercises for personal development, and introduces a symbolic board game to help readers think strategically about their careers. The post culminates in an exercise that prompts readers to envision and design their life and career through the power of imagination.

Fahri’s Doodles — Part 5: Living Exponentially

This post is about my journey of creating a doodle magazine. It continues from my last four posts, which you can find here, here, here and here. I continue creating Fahri’s Doodles magazine today. Our next section is called “Living Exponentially”. You will find a set of additional exercises and drawings in this post.

The main theme of this post is non-linear and exponential living.

We live in non-linear and exponential times. We are still in early stages of unprecedented technological changes and no one knows the nature of upcoming future innovations.

As Kurzweil states: “We won’t experience 100 years of progress in the 21st century — it will be more like 20,000 years of progress.”

That implies we have no idea of what is coming next. We need to get rid of our linear expectations.

The only way to go forward is to be comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty, and to embrace non-linear change.

We need to think and act like bold entrepreneurs: We need resilience, creativity, adaptive skills, strategy, continuous learning, and resourcefulness.

How do we do that?

Please look at the following visual and roadmap:

How can you implement these principles in your life?

You can create enormous value as an individual in this era. The scale and speed of what you achieve with new technologies is amazing. Even small resources and actions can yield exponentially in the long term.

Please come up with 10 small action points and ideas now. Write them in your journal.

Now, let’s think about how you will advance your career in this non-linear era.

The rate of change will continue to increase. The actions that you take now will determine your career prospects.

Please look at the symbolic board game below.

Your challenge is the following:

Please create a small idea or action for each box.

“Exponential Career Game” by Fahri Karakas, 2019.

We need to remind ourselves that our career and our future will probably be very different from what we imagine.

“The most valuable asset that we have is our boundless imagination.” Fahri Karakas

I do not know if anyone else stated the above, but I really believe in this quote.

I have just made up this quote:)

I hope no one else stated this in this way, but it is so obvious that many others might as well have said this or similar things.

It is such fun to create your own quote. I think we need to come up with our own quotes all the time:)

“Imagination is a real game changer. If you want to level up your game, you need to learn, read, imagine, and create wildly. This is the only way that is worth living for.”

Fahri Karakas

This is such fun — I cannot stop myself:)

OK, I have to seriously stop creating quotes and get back to this post now!

OK, here is the next exercise.

Please do it now.

Are you ready?
