I Remember Jumping Off Sand Dunes on Childhood Vacations in South Wales
These memories are like the most beautiful music drifting in from the horizon at sunset.
I remember our family holidays to The Gower Peninsula in South Wales. We used to stay at a campsite right near to the beach.
There were these wonderful golden sand dunes. As a young child, they seemed like high up cliffs.
Me and my brother used to run and jump off them. I remember the feel of my feet landing in the soft, warm sand. Then we would run back up and do it all over again.
I also remember the hot sun, the salty sea, and running around shooting each other with water pistols.
I remember revisiting it many years later, and the dunes didn’t seem as big as I remembered them. I suppose that’s true of everything in life. The sand dunes are never as big as you remember them. The yellow of the sand is never as bright. Experiences are never as powerful as they were when you were young.
