I Made Money on Medium Last Month.
Yes! Money! Here!
I have been a Medium writer since February 2019. In that time, I have made money.
As a result, I now have to write about it. Apparently, it’s a requirement. Plus, if I write about making money on Medium, a bunch of people will read it.
Why? I’m not sure. Perhaps because they want Tips and Pointers.
Or maybe, like me, they just find articles like that entertaining.
My favorite Medium posts are articles about how to make lots of money on Medium, written by people who aren’t making lots of money on Medium.
There ought to be a special TAG for these posts. Like:
FINANCIAL ADVICE BY PEOPLE WITH NO MONEY.
THE USUAL RECYCLED DRIVEL ABOUT GENERATING MEDIUM REVENUE
MONEY MALARKEY
SELF-DRIVING DELUSIONS
Why do I love reading these articles? There’s something about a person who is making pennies telling me how to make millions that I, as a humorist, appreciate.
Also, it reveals a basic truth about human nature. Which is? Despite all the odds and all the evidence, we humans remain full of hope.
Given how hard we work and how little we make on this platform, there is nothing more hopeful than a Medium writer.
Have I made a lot of money on Medium? Nope.
Most of my posts have made Dollars. Others have made Cents. Although it’s true that my most lucrative Medium post ever, which was about one of the worst days in my life, actually earned $700!
All you have to do to make $700 on Medium is discover that the man you loved and trusted for two decades had a secret girlfriend for over 10 years — and then write about it!
Go ahead and try that. I dare you!
If you don’t want to go that route, you’ve got other options.
Which brings me to the Tips and Pointers part of this post. I will now share my secrets! Spill the beans! Reveal exactly how it’s done!
Here’s how you, like me, can make Money on Medium:
(Cue drum roll and crash of cymbals….)
(1) Drink plenty of coffee!
(2) Have ideas!
(3) Write about them!
You’re welcome.
What if you have no ideas?
Write about how much money you made on Medium last month.
