I lost two income streams overnight
How much I lost and plans for recovery
Two of my income streams gone overnight…
Ok, so not actually overnight but, it definitely feels that way. I always preach about multiple income streams for this very reason. Things can happen with your business and income, and when they do, having more than one stream of income can keep you afloat.
Here’s what happened, how much I lost, and how I plan to recover…
How did I lose two income streams?
It can happen in many ways…
- You lose a client
- Your business pivots and you shut off part of your income as a result (like my plan to stop working with clients)
- Income-producing opportunities disappear
Specifically, this is what happened to me…
I lost one UGC client and my time with Pinterest Creator Rewards ended.
Income stream #1: UGC work
I landed my first long-term UGC deal.
I wrote about it back in July and here in November, just a few months later, it has evaporated.
These things don’t last forever but, I was expecting this deal to be at least a 9 to 12-month engagement.
That UGC deal had me producing around 10 pieces of video content per month. I had total creative control, giving the brand an opportunity to make suggestions/edits.
It was a sweet deal and it was going great. I had just gotten an update from their team on a change they wanted, moving forward. A few days later I got an email saying they were going a different direction with creators.
Sob.
That deal accounted for $2,000 in monthly income and it’s gone :/
Income stream #2: Pinterest Creator Rewards
This just happened today with little notice. I got an email from Pinterest saying this program was disappearing…
AS OF TOMORROW?
Yep.
Talk about the short notice.
It didn’t occur to me that this program would end so quickly. I joined in February 2022 and November 2022 will be the last month it is in existence.
Not just for me. For all Pinterest creators that are involved in the program.
As a Pinterest Creator Rewards creator, I was making up to $10,000 per month producing and publishing Pinterest pins.
As of the last few months, my income was averaging $2,000 to $3,000 per month.
It’s gone :/
How much did I lose in total and what the heck am I going to do?
In total, I lost $4,000 to $5,000 in monthly income.
I lost $4,000 to $5,000 in monthly income
Big hit.
And, at the end of the year, at that. I had some big purchases planned that are going to have to sit on the back burner now. That’s totally fine. I’m really just happy that my lifestyle is still going to remain the same, honestly.
At the start of the pandemic when I lost a big chunk of income, we went through some major changes.
The good thing in all of this is, I have many streams of income and although this is taking a huge dent out of my income, I still have my remaining income streams to keep me afloat and pay me a nice full-time income.
If you’re curious about how much I make every month, paid Substack subscribers get my income reports quarterly as I unveil my earnings.
How will I recover?
One of my newest income streams is taking off.
In fact, it earned me over $4,000 this month.
It’s only a few months old and it has essentially nearly replaced this income loss I’ve experienced.
I want to build on that and grow it to $15K per month by mid-next year.
Do you think I can do it?
When life throws you a curveball…
It’s all about rolling with the punches.
This isn’t the first time something like this happened…
Today, I’m so happy that I’m more prepared.
I want to end this by saying…
Multiple income streams, multiple income streams, multiple income streams..lol.
Have you had a drop in income happen before?
What did you do to pivot?
